I haven't seen jimmies as rustled as yours in a long time
Some of us still believe in Patriotism and Manliness. Insults to one's country should not be taken lying down.
Bro is saying he wants to see Americans train harder and race with bigger balls. Wanting your country to improve at something is more patriotic than blindly getting triggered by someone saying your country could improve at something.
Honestly respect to Rory here. He's frankly a scrub talent wise. Pretty mid track times and pedigrees but has run faster in the thon than a bunch of guys with way better pedigree. The only American who went faster than him over the marathon in 2025 was Conner Mantz. No way is he the #2 most talented marathoner in North America so gonna put that down to him probably just being tougher than most.

Qualified for junior xc worlds. 6 time NCAA all American with a high water mark of of 2nd in the 10k. Talentless scrub.
His times are pre-super shoes so yeah they're gonna be a little lame compared to what we're seeing now, but everything above 1500m was elite for the NCAA back then (hence 6xAA).
Check out bill Rodger’s training diary from the 70s. Training large and racing a thousand times a year. Not much money either. Are many American marathoners training as hard now?
Have the top 50 Japanese in one race and make them go out @3:35 pace a lot would run very fast. Problem is a lot of people don’t want to put it all on the line. You have to train like a maniac, race like you don’t fear consequences. That’s the American way. Too soft here.
This argument is so bad, the best runners in America don't run the marathon, that's all there is to it.
Maybe being harsh in calling him a scrub but he's far from a blue chip prospect compared to other athletes who moved up in distance. He never made a world or Olympic team for Canada until the marathon which is a pretty low bar to clear. His PBs - all in super spikes, are 7:49, 13:29 and 27:48.
Again, not saying this to slag him off. Saying it because I think he's right and that he is likely tougher and more driven than most. Respect to him.
Linkletter has made great improvements over the last few years while Fischer, Albertson and Young are still Stagnant.
Rory has had better shoes over the last few years than most of those guys.
Rory has also been relatively injury free for a long stint. This helps in every way possible and allows him to be tougher at any given moment. Does anyone think Clayton Young isn't tough because he hasn't broken 2:08? That'd be silly. Barring injuries, Clayton would probably be up with Mantz (and we'll ahead of Rory) in just about any event.
