So many people come on here asking for the best for the best trails, best places to train etc and here is Cam Levins training at what looks like a standard suburban neighborhood.
That is correct. Cam Levins holds the Canadian men's marathon record with a time of 2:05:36, set at the Tokyo Marathon on March 5, 2023. Rory Linkletter holds the Canadian men’s half-marathon record with a time of 59:49, set on January 11, 2026, at the Houston Half Marathon. The old record was held by Cam Levins with a time of 1:00:18
i don't get your post. where is he supposed to be training?
The implication is that a “white collar” or elitist pro would be training on some well maintained dirt trail in Flagstaff/Provo/Boulder etc., somewhere that looks perfect for running, because they can afford to center their lives around perfect training. A “blue collar” runner like Levins just goes out and gets it done in the neighborhood like the rest of us. That’s the OP’s idea, anyway.
Gotta keep in mind that Levins was a member of NOP at one stage in his career (not exactly a blue collar group) and now he’s at the stage where he’s 36 and has a family, which likely plays into his choice of living/training situation.
Levins is a legend. I’m not sure many of the younger crowd are aware of Levins’s “moment” in spring of 2012. He had gained some traction as a LR hero for running 150 miles per week by himself in Southern Utah, which led him from a nobody to 4th at NCAA XC his SR year in fall of 2011. Then in April 2012, he broke out with a pair of upset wins over Lawi Lalang and Chris Derrick/Sam Chelanga respectively, both which huge kicks where he looked like an awesome running machine. He’d go on to win the double at NCAAs in dominant fashion.

I think the NOP kinda spoiled Levins’s pro track experience. In a different timeline he has sub-13/sub-27 pre-super shoes PRs.
I was the meet announcer at his outdoor conference meet that spring in Fargo, he was utterly dominant, yet didn't seem to extend much effort in doing so!
