Next time call the local high school and higher teenagers. Five teenagers with shovels will do it for one-third the price, especially if you feed them.
Will do a charge-back later and cite price gouging laws. Will settle at $500.
We can’t tell much with limited data but can guess:
Plow guy sensed you could and would pay $1000 because you looked rich and desperate.
If misery loves company, I have a brother who bought a cabin with a long driveway in a secluded rural area. There is exactly one plow guy available to keep his driveway clear and he charges a ton, too. My brother has put out feelers for alternatives but nobody has risen to the bait.
You can get snow plows that fit on pickup trucks for under $2k, and I assume you have a pickup if you have an 800 ft driveway. Economically, one would make sense if the company is charging 1k to plow it once.
One of my employees lives way out in the boondocks of Montana. There, you are expected to plow the road in front of your house. She lives on 65 acres. And her driveway is a quarter mile long.
Will do a charge-back later and cite price gouging laws. Will settle at $500.
You are an idiot for buying a property with an 800 ft driveway if you can't afford the maintenance.
Well then lets just use that logic for all price gouging shall we? What a dum answer. It's a 5 min job, that's 12000$ per hour. Sorry but the average plow master is not saddled with debt and long hours of training. What people charge for things now is just crazy. Do as much as you can for yourself and put these people out of business. It is open season on gouging for every non skilled thing people do nowadays.
Yaa exactly! People are so naive! If he quoted you 300 and swiped for 1000 just file immediately in court. But if you didn't agree on a price and you didn't either sign a contract or tape him in a one-party consent state.... then you are sol.
Thank you price gougers of america president. This is precisely the logic that allows this to go on.
Take em to court, let them tell a semi rational judge why they make 12K/hr.
Did you know it would cost $1000? Are you mad because it took them 5mins rather than hours. You paid for a service not for their time know the difference.
$1000 does sound crazy high but if you willing to do so at the start why does it matter how long it takes?
