Most Dems aren't going to even attend. They're going to hold their own event where they actually speak in complete sentences about issues and policies that actually affect Americans. What a concept!
Well, that’s what you see in them, but in truth the race to the bottom is continuing apace. Trump parlayed his middle-school-bully mean tweets bit into electoral victories, so Newsom has decided that his social media accounts should be geared at being auditions for Troll in Chief.
And we’ve moved from another version of this — “I love the poorly educated” is a reasonable enough position (if oddly stated), but it came from a guy who clearly doesn’t read, who blurts out nonsense over and over, and who struggles to read — into casual acceptance of Biden’s clear mental decline and now into Newsom’s parading of his below-average-to-average SAT scores (in his day) and leaning into his reading difficulties. There’s nothing to be ashamed of for average Americans to have average intellectual capacity, but one might hope we’d get better from our leaders.
And, of course, pre-2015, most of the lying was from people who usually tried to be subtle about the lies and restricted it to maybe 5-10% of statements, max. Après Trump, le déluge (perhaps not: he remains the undisputed champ thus far).
Look at the alarming state of Americans’ reading ability, children’s cognitive abilities overall now, and what AI use apparently does to cognitive ability. Eventually a real-life version of President Camacho will arise from the will of those people.
