i don't disagree but there are a quite a lot of johnny cash songs that make you feel good like that. it's hard to single that one out...even though it is truly wonderful.
I love Cash. Been listening to him since I was a kid. I like that song but it wouldn't be one that I'd think of first off when talking about the guy. Of course 'had a beer for breakfast, had one more for dessert' is a classic line. I would agree with the line of thinking that its kind of depressing. The song makes me feel old and washed. Not to send out a sexist vibe, but 'Deliahs gone' was always my favorite. I always liked the story about how it all went down and how there was an aftermath, how he was haunted until he was done. Cash is the man.

...definitely a Kris K tune - the life in that tune is a dead-end; depressing - totally depressing. takes me back to a Stillwater OK 3-day fest in the early '70s. Out for a Sunday morning ride on a borrowed Triumph 650, I came to that conclusion. At least in your current "Starbucks" life you'll have a dead-end w/ all the accoutrements - and great coffee.
