Joy Beune, a specialist in the 1500 meter speed skating, was not selected for TeamNL's event in Milan, prompting questions about the team’s decision as Marij...
We're about to see just how much Femke carried the Dutch relays. Calling it now, they don't make it out of heats.
Funny that, because in Tokyo & Paris, the last two outdoor Global majors, they've done exactly that, and qualified for the final without Bol running the heats. In Budapest that Q without Klaver.
The Dutch jave just enough depth to Q without Bol or Klaver, just not both (unless at the European level, where they have Q without either of them..)
Depending on schedules going forwards, it's likely Bol will run either/or the mixed or single sex 4x4 outdoors. Indoors, i think she can be excused to sit out this time round, they've won every gold medal these last few seasons.
Keely's consistently had injuries over the last few seasons, Mu was carrying an injury last season, Moraa got injured....it's kinda normal for elite athletes to pick up niggles when pushing themselves to the limit. Or we saying 800m training is too much for these World & Olympic medalists too?
I would not assume that the injury is a result of 800m training being more demanding physically than 400mH training. The hurdles put a ton of stress on the feet and ankles.
The 800 requires a minimum of a certain amount of volume. If you can't handle it, you'll never succeed.
Femke should go back to the hurdles. She never got hurt there.
I don't know why this was downvoted. For years she did hurdles, a very high impact event, and never got hurt. Then she increases volume to train for an 800m and immediately gets an injury.
She is too tall and too muscular for the 800m. The training will be too much stress on her feet and her legs.
1:59 is not fast. We have a high school kid who ran 1:42.
Why the downvotes? Femke is a professional runner considered among the very best in the world and a 16-year-old kid runs 17 seconds faster than this once-in-a-lifetime runner. Maybe she isn't a once-in-a-lifetime runner?

Dude, no one took your bait. Stop trying so hard. Jeez louise…
If it were a World/Olympic year, would she be racing? I think if the answer is yes, there's no reason for concern. If no...
This track season is feeling like the current state of the NBA- teams/players that are out of the running are having their surgeries and resting already for next year. Really ruining the sport. I would hate to see track go the same way where non-championship years are essentially gap years with little significant racing.
Stating clear observations such as that she can't beat the top elites in whatever races she chooses and is constantly overhyped as the best in any race she enters is not 'hating'.
