I've ordered from the same local pizza shop for the past 5+ years. I usually tip generously, at least $5 and often $10 or more. Just last week I tipped $15 on a $25 order.
Today I made my order and when the delivery came I noticed I had just $24.50 cash
and the bill was $25. It was the same driver as last week and they greeted me with a smile - probably because they were expecting another decent tip.
I told him I was short on cash and asked if he could accept the $0.50 difference and I'd cover it another time. He refused and I ended up with nothing.
I contacted the pizza shop and told them I would no longer be giving them my business.

Here is my thought. Why not pay by card? Then you would have plenty of cash for a tip.
I would have asked the delivery guy if he wanted a slice or two if he was willing to cover the shortfall. If he wasn't hungry, I'd try and pay with one of the many garden gnomes I have in my front garden, or a fat koi carp from the neighbour's pond.
You'd pay with a gnome? Not so fast bud, slavery was outlawed with the 13th amendment. You can't sell people in this country!
Do you not know your garden gnomes from your lawn jockeys???? What the hell... were you born after 1940 or something?

Buddy, you already withheld your business, because you didn't pay them for the pizza. Did you not know how much the pizza cost when you ordered? Did you not know how much money you had? No Venmo? No spare change in the couch?

If you live long enough, you'll have multiple occasions where having some emergency cash on hand is the only way to solve a problem. I keep $1,000 or so in twenties at home and $300 hidden in my car that I can access if I need cash in a hurry.
Personal story: My late mother-in-law keep her bingo money in a tiny coin pouch. I keep quarters for parking/etc and $100 in various bills in it and keep it in my car. When I have to dip into the bingo stash pouch to make a purchase, it gives me a smile to remember her. Stupid, I know, but that tiny bingo pouch would have solved the OP's problem.
I ordered a large cheese pizza on Uber Eats the other week and it came out to $57 after taxes (and before tips). The prices are getting ridiculous. I will say this particular pizza shop is very good.
Why do you need frou-frou pizza? And why can't you pick it up yourself?

Could have held.him hostage and demanded a ransom of 50 cent. Unless his nane happened to be 50 cent, in which case you would only break even. Now if his his name was Creflo Dollar and he was listening to Nickelback and the name of the manager was Ms Money Penny I'm sure it's just a bad trip.

You should have walked or driven to the pizza shop (stopping at an ATM on the way of course), paid for the pizza and apologized to the driver for the inconvenience. Don't blame him because he wouldn't do you a favor by covering for your dumb ass and definitely don't blame the pizza shop - they weren't even there.
You should make it up to them by ordering again tonight, but first make sure you've got the funds.
You should have answered the door in a negligee and said to the delivery guy, "I'm afraid I don't have quite enough money. Is there some other way I could pay you?"
Bro I literally have a few quarters piled in an unused corner of my desk. They’re covered by a thick layer of dust at this point, waiting for the proper moment.

Want to save money? Get on your feet or in your car and go get your own pizza. I buy pizza once a week for our family of five and I usually pay $20 to $25, including tax and a small tip. Delivery would roughly double the price. And ordering from some fancy pizza shop would make it even more expensive.
