Seems like he is caught in the injury cycle. Load vs capacity. Capacity declines each injury and load needs to be adjusted
If he is injured again, then this is 100% facts. The capacity you build after years straight being healthy is not the same after a few injuries. Many athletes never get this right. Needs to spend a year doing less volume and prove health first.
Makes sense. The human body can only handle so much and Jakob has been hammering it in training for well over a decade. It was going to catch up with him eventually. We will never see 2021-2024 Jakob Ingebrigtsen ever again. He had a great career. If I had to rank him in a greatest distance runners of all time list, I would place him around 15th.
He indeed did. If this is the end, I’d rank him around 10th. Can’t put him above runners like Farah, Coe, Gebreselassie, Kipchoge, El G, and Bekele. Zatopek and Snell are dated but likely greater. Hard to put him above morceli but that’s it.
Hang on. If Almgren is going to challenge sub 12:40, if not the WR this year at the tender age of 85, then Jakob will be back.
Team Inge needs to plan an outdoor meet in November or December 2026 in the southern hemisphere or Rieti or somewhere warm and temperature which will be IAAF legal, will have a rabbit, an elite and sub elite field, and at least one "pacer" who will be paid extra to box Jakob in to essentially make a true TT race for the century where Jakob will run 3:25. Take away all of the shenanigans of competing in races where you're only racing against a hamstring or an Achilles waiting to snap
Jakob needs more juice to speed up his recovery after workouts. Should pay Katir to coach him instead of relying on his brothers who had a history of injury
I’m not on Snapchat, but has he explicitly said anything related to a flare up or injury? Is he actually back in Norway, or were some of these recent posts where he looks to be in Norway previously planned? (e.g. his 100k subscriber giveaway is clearly in Norway but easily could have been prerecorded). I doubt he would actively keep his location “on” for the world to know where he is at.
There was that article about him late last week / early this week saying he was aiming for Bislett Games to open his season. Has there been any updates from his agent or credible source that this has changed recently?
He was extremely transparent last year. If he is having a setback, he’d likely tell us at some point soon. Otherwise, you could play internet sleuths all you want.
It's classic tendinitis / tendonosis. He is probably absolutely fine, but sometimes feels a twinge in the tendon so he is being over cautious. The thing is this could go on for years.
