My countryman 🇸🇪Andreas Almgren, bronze medal 10000m in WC, is the winner of 2026 Valencia 10 k in a new European record 26:43 .
I was among the many people thought he was gonna win the race after his " monster workout" some days before the race and 10 x 1000m @ average 2:31-2:32 min and last rep 2:28 !
I predicted out of that workout his time should be 26:30- 26:40 , so I was pretty close.
Big congrats to Almgren ! Swedish power 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🧙♂️
Fantastisk!! I watched it this morning and he looked so comfortable out there.
If you've read the fine print facts that liberal news doesn't want to report, athletes will be exempt from the border restrictions. Trump has saved copious lives and pain from criminal and terror intended Border crosses being blocked and deterred.
True for the 2026 World Cup. Trump’s buddy Infantino bribed with him some glittering goodies and an absurd FIFA peace prize to secure entry for the football teams.
Ironically, the US Embassy in Ethiopia website is advertising the "FIFA World Cup 26™ [which] will showcase the beauty, greatness, and dynamism of America" with plenty of "plan your trip" advices (Ethiopia hasn’t qualified), while barring entry to Ethiopian athletes for the XC world championships.
I’m much less optimistic about the 2028 Olympics.
I'm optimistic about the 28 Olympics because the orange one will be long gone well before 2028. He is collapsing now and so is his health. The world cup could be an embarrassment.
Sixth all time in the road 10k for Almgren, I have a hard time comprehending that a runner from my country is putting up times like these
If only he had started focusing on the longer distances earlier in his career
I see you don't have the knowledge background of his career? . Already when he was age 17 I chat with him a couple of times and told him he would have a good chance to become a world top runner. He has same appearance and stride like Sweden's former world record holder Gunder Hägg. Unfortunately back then when Almgren was young he did too much very fast intervals/ repetitions and so on and a couple of really nasty injuries came that almost put an end to his running career. Saved by injuries at last healed and changed his training to the Norwegian double threshold method we now see luckily this very talented great Swede now at age soon 31 has transformed to a world beater. I won't get surprised if we even will see 1 or 2 world records will pop up from this Swedish Viking with the beautiful effective stride. 🇸🇪🧙♂️🇸🇪

The best decision in Almgren's career was to tell you to fvck off.
US immigration procedures are too much of a hassle and risk currently. Many athletes will skip the US as much as they can and prioritise competing in other locations. This somehow explains the very low participants’ numbers in Tallahassee.
The US has always been scary with the free flowing gun situation but now also with the added ice danger where school bullies have been given the right to kill for no good reason in the name of the president. Great guys keep it up. Only an idiot would travel there voluntarily these days.
Only an idiot would orphan their child by taunting federal agents and attempting to run them over. In order to keep drugs and thugs flooding throughout the nation. Bad news for other Darwin Award 2026 aspirants.

Truly. It is absolutely hilarious that Jan is now gooning over a guy who has shaped himself into a world class athlete using training methods that Jan cannot comprehend yet often rejects.
very impressive performance. Had he been at Tallahassee yesterday, he definitely would have medaled.
"Definitely" - LOL, NO.
Jimmy Gressier, the man who beat Almgren to take 10,000 gold in Paris, placed 15th in Tallahassee, 51 seconds behind bronze, and 78 seconds behind gold.
Gressier has 10,000/10k PBS of 26:58 and 27:07.
Against Almgren, Gressier has a lifetime record of 3-1 in the 5000, and 1-1 in the 10,000
Is is ridiculous to say that a guy who may or may not even be better than Gressier would "definitely" have medaled in Tallahassee, when Gressier got stomped by a full minute.

How much recovery time did he take for this 10x1000m?
I don't see it on his Strava. Where did you see this?

Not to mention how many legit athletes won't get into Olympics on immigration grounds.

I will be VERY surprised.
In what events do you think this is possible?
Maybe the track 20,000m and 30,000m track "world records" LOL 😂 (Both are from 2011 and slower than current marathon world record pace, so your guy might have a chance!)

I do, the reason for why he's putting up times like these is because he started training like the Norwegians. If that hadn't happened he still would've struggled with constant injuries and would've kept focusing on the 1500 - 3000 rather than focusing on the 5000 - HM where he's putting up some of the fastest times in history.
You can't assume that each guy was in track shape. Nico Young and Graham Blanks weren't close to 12:40s shape. Parker Wolfe was probably in pr shape but he hasn't broken 13 to my knowledge. He will. Gressier was not close to his gold medal shape. In fact, he wasn't even winning Euro races until close to World's outdoors last year.
Almgren is a world class runner no doubt about it and he has already achieved a lot but I see him more as a time trialer than being very competitive at the very top world stage such as World Championships and Olympic Games where I think he will have trouble getting medals, but I hope I'm wrong.
If you follow his training (Almgren) you see that he does most of it on his own and that's a rare ability to get the most out of his ability solo without group training. I guess he's kind of an introvert like many Scandinavians. Very few people in the world can run the times he does in training on his own with just the clock. Dude is at another level in that respect.
Not sure if he has any link with coach JS but I know they've spoken in the past. There is probably a mutual respect there from both sides.
