Surprising. At 2:10 of the linked video, he is all the way past the line with his right foot on one step, and has several others where a lot of the foot is on the wrong side of the line.

Absolutely a DQ - he runs at least 3 steps on the inside line even crossing it at least twice. I know it’s not the US indoor trials but the time can’t be valid because of that so it really is a simple DQ?
If you watch the entire race he is just all over his lane. He comes off those corners so out of control he has to overcorrect and that’s what sets him off.

This is like the second or third time I've seen him violate a lane (yet he's never gotten DQ'd for it). I think the last was against Jayden Horton Mims and he didn't win either.
Also, I don't understand how QW can barely break 22.00 for 200m yet is a 44.1 guy. He ran 21.73 at this same meet.
What's he doing looking at the ceiling while running? How have they not improved his form yet?
Worked for Eric Liddell in Chariots of Fire. I'm as concerned about his bowed legs causing his feet to cross over, i can't even tell what direction he's going in, like the Stephen Leacock line from Nonsense Novels: "...flung himself upon his horse and rode madly off in all directions."

He does have amazing wheels, just kinda wobbly.
Was thinking the same thing. Who does he think he is? Eric Liddell?
Seems fair they're being consistent. No DQ's during cross country nor indoors. Should follow up with the experts posting videos why DQ isn't necessary also. But if you're going to enforce the rules don't be selective about it.
Gotta be one of the worst lane violations I’ve ever seen.
and god. His form is horrific. I thought they’d sort that out his last couples years of HS, but it looks even worse than when I first noticed his weird arm drag as a sophomore sensation. He has some of the worst biomechanics and fundamentals I’ve ever seen. It’s a miracle he’s able to run 44.10 with that form.
if he ever wants to break the WR he absolutely needs to sort out his form and use his arms to drive.

And yet, somehow, there are people elsewhere arguing it's not a DQ. Baffling.

It seems like a lot officials are always afraid of giving DQs. Hooking in hurdles, relay zone infractions. I saw a video of a girl pass another inside of lane 1 to win the state 800 with 8 officials watching. So the question of it not being a DQ is probably more of just officials not doing their job. Has that been people's experiences in other parts of the country? The only DQs I see get called are false starts or elbow throwing/pushing, plus the occasional relay baton throw.

I don’t even see any officials there is the concerning part. The few races I watched from that meet there’s none that I see easily. Could be wrong but I think in the 800 there was only one. I’ll go back and watch.
I have seen at a few meets in Virginia this season people stepping out of lanes in 300s-500s and officials not calling it. There’s also been issue with not Dqing blatant pushing.
Here’s a video of a kid being pushed over in the 4 x 2 and there being no dq for the team that pushed the kid over. What makes it worse is there’s not supposed to be technology in the competition area (pretty sure this is a national rule).

A Stephen Leacock reference on Letsrun?! Now I’ve seen everything.
Very sloppy and poorly coached. Those lane violations will get an entire relay team DQed. Multiple steps out of his lane. That time shouldn’t be ratified and the lane officials need better training.

as noted above I am not sure there were lane officials.
To be clear, I am not a big fan of DQs especially the stupid ones for H.S. athletes. However, this DQ is a good thing because it sends a message. Get the stepping out of lane fixed before you lose a record, a championship or get a relay DQed.
Part of the reason he's running over lines is because his hulk of a teammate was hanging over into his lane. It's harder to run fast around right turns. Have any of y'all even sprinted around a tight turn? Sprinting indoors?
As for his neck in italics, that's on him and his coach. It technically decreases frontal drag
