Because of the low barrier to entry, running coach is one of those when all else fails jobs. That’s why you have so many losers and failures doing it.
Look at all the nothing happening middle-aged women on Instagram calling themselves running coaches. The exception being the great Elizabeth Clor, whose insights are always pure gold. 😂😂😂
Sounds like you got cut from your high school JV cross country team and haven't got over it. Maybe Elizabeth Clor (a nothing happening middle-aged woman) can coach you.
You probably do not need a coach to write you workouts at this point. You might need a consultant to make suggestions or clarify. There were two individuals who talked about their coaching, be sure to look up all their posts....
I can't hep you with ultras it is out of my area of expertise.

Disagree. Crappy coaches don't produce results. They can yak about thrmselves, but being ineffective stains their rep.
OP look for coaches with good reps that generate PRs for most of their athletes (not just a sprinkling) and who prepare them to perform well in their goal race. Their time drops will do the talking.

Of course. Look for the JS coach on the boards. He just generate PRs all the time to his athletes. A great underestimated coach by many.
