I can't believe BYU ran that fast because they had two previous State Cross Country Champions from that horrible distance state California on that relay team. Hahaha!
As somebody who has raced plenty of times on that track, this is EXTREMELY impressive. Literally the slowest track I've ever ran on, my high school team added an extra 5 seconds per mile for our altitude +byu track conversion. Nobody ever runs pr's on this track
"after altitude conversion", and also run on an illegal 323 meter track, LOL.
And did they remember to ADD time to the 400m split?
This track is very old and slow with extremely tight turns. Not "illegal" despite your claim and slower than these brand new trampoline tracks especially with altitude.
I don't really want to question the best team in the country but does it seem like they are racing a lot for a top college team? Straight from XC to indoor.
I always assumed it was to get your marks early when the athletes are in peak shape, and then take a nice long break over December. Nationals isn't until March so technically they don't need to race again until Feb if they are safely locked into a spot?

I don't know why you're weirdly obsessing over this so much. Seems personal.
Incidentally, it's a crappy, beat up, flat track with uneven turns.
The original thread title proclaimed "WORLD RECORD!" So I wrote two short sentences refuting a dumb proclamation by Citius and the OP. Guess that counts as a "weird obsession" and "taking it personal" in your book. I'll be excited to see them legitimately go after the record later this season.
Wow!!! I had no idea that they were that good!!! LOL...LOL...LOL!!!
Can they do that at a sanctioned meet on a regulation 200m short track during the upcoming indoor season when it counts? Of course they can!!! That being said, the altitude conversion is useless, and comparing the time to the current DMR record is useless as well. It does however give some insight as to how fit the BYU women are, but they still need to prove it when it counts over the next few months. Nothing wrong with a "glorified" workout post X-C when you're fit, why waste it.

In the indoor DMR on an "illegal" track at altitude? Not sure it really counts for anything.
