Since when do well-trained athletes have a VO2 max of 60?. They're running five times a week? Sounds like novice runners to me.
Besides, isn't it obvious that warm baths are a positive recuperation technique?
WARM baths INCREASE inflammation as COLD baths DECREASE information
Warm baths and saunas don’t increase inflammation. Ice baths really have no scientific value. In fact most runners don’t really have runaway inflammation.

Please don’t say dumb
okay so you can convince me of the value of soapland as it’s VERY relaxing and has warm water in well. It is spensive but do t do it so often as it’s in Japan as I don’t go Japan all that often so I can save up my money a Lot
Hot baths isn't exactly a new phenomenon. Dk why you'd write to take a day off & just do that. Nobody is attributing hot baths, on their own, to performance gains, but the 4% # for runners with 60ish VO2s is a strong argument for them. A VO2 around 60 is around 17min for 5k. Feel like shaving 30-40s is a big deal at that mark, when gains can be hard to come by for people in that range.
Prostitution, as defined under modern Japanese law, is the illegal practice of sexual intercourse with an 'unspecified' (unacquainted) person in exchange for monetary compensation, which was criminalised in 1956 by the introd...

You mean Vdot of 60 is (or was) worth around 17min for 5k.
Vdot is an index not an oxygen uptake measurement. That's why the 85 Vdot in Daniels' table has been exceeded by runners with a 70 VO2max
I’ve been taking a hot bath every day for like 15 years. It’s always been my post run thing, and I think it helps keep overuse injuries at bay. I would do it even if I didn’t think it helped my running.
Hot baths/sauna will DROP your endurance because it will dehydrate you. Train with extra clothes on vs sit on your ass in a sweat box xD What next, sitting in peak hour with the heater on full blast gets you fit?
Sauna is great if its ducking cold out but really all they do is dehydrate and enervate you with excess unnatural heat.

I think he means VO2 max. Mine is 62-63 and my 5km PB is 16:21, so it sounds right to me.

Corrected that for you. As a fun exercise, I looked up the guy with the highest known VO2max, Norwegian cyclist Oskar Svendsen, and his "correlated" to a 5K time of 11:13 on the conversion calculator.
Here it is: VO2 max 97.5 = 11:13 5K, 1:47:49 marathon VO2 max 78.6 = 13:30 5K, 2:09:40 marathon
