Misrepresents what happened. The management for the venues cancelled the event. Likely did not want tens of thousands of dollars (euros? pounds?) in damage to the park.

Nonsense. Corkagh park is 120 Hectares of playing fields, nature reserve and forrestry, there is ample hard stand parking there also.
we're talking about some XC races not Glastonbury. The land would have recovered perfectly well over the winter at close to zero cost for the spring.
