You're not looking for discussion, just trolling. It's a prelim with 7 days to recover from a less than 4 mile effort.
However, she didn't even go all out.
Expressing an unpopular opinion isn't trolling. If you want to explain how running 19:06 in a prelim is a good idea when nobody else was under 19:45, I'm willing to listen.
Regional races are nothing more than prelims. Experienced runners like Pamela Kosgei know the goal is to advance with as little effort as possible. Kosgei held back because she was in a secure position and she knew her team was likely to qualify for nattys.
Jane Hedengren made the typical freshman mistake of running hard in a prelim. No reason to run as hard as she did. Completely unnecessary. She will probably pay for this mistake at natty next weekend.
I think she could have run slower but I still expect her to win by 20 seconds next week. I think she would have won nationals by 30 seconds had she jogged the meet today.
you are probably right because the body just can't recovery in 9 days - just ask Henry Rono when he tried to set world records with just 2 or 3 days between. It just can't happen.
Kosgei didn't "hold back." Did you see the look on her face? Either she's a great thespian, or that gal was hurting. I'm saying that as someone who was maybe two feet away as she ran past. She absolutely fell apart over the last 2k.

Exactly, and the splits show that she tried going out with Jane for the first 2k, only to fall over 40 seconds behind in the last 4k. I’d have to imagine Jane exerted less energy, as she ran her own pace and was never challenged.

The splits show they ran hard together for the first 2k, only for Pamela to let wisdom take over and save her best for nattys.

Oh wait - it did happen.
How long does it take you to recovery?
And what happened to Henry Rono after that? He burned out.
Without anyone remotely close to her, she was unlikely to have gone to the well and at the finish she certainly didn't look like she had done so. All that form work growing up has produced a runner who is well beyond this level already.

He broke his teammate's 10,000 meter WR the next year.

Except you're not willing to listen but repeating the same tropes. If this is the last "hard" effort she has before Nats then she has 7 days to recover. This is NOT a prelim in the sense of an ordinary meet where you're next round is the following day or 2 days. She also ran her SLOWEST race of the year so far while likely hitting her PEAK form of the season suggesting she may not have run ALL OUT as you simply assume based on her winning margin. She will both be unfazed by this performance and likely dominate Nationals and then I'll bump this. Don't say I didn't warn you.
