my city turned an unpaved trail into some dumb-assed wooden granny walker-pushing path. Raised like some tourist platform in Jurassic park. You run on a path and then in the middle of it have to jump over the fence to this random path that abruptly ends for no reason.
Well that stretch has weathered and there are tons of dangerous holes / broken boards that nobody repaired on the path - now nobody really gets to use the space.
In my 25 years running the path (much less now) I have yet to have ever seen a pedestrian using the elevated walking path they created)
