I'm communicating with the runner via Instagram and trying to persuade him to give up this risky venture but he's having none of it.
He's making the same mistake that he made when he rejected his country's federation and basically moved abroad for most of the year. Dude is a maverick (free thinker).
Yes Ghost 1 , It's so sad when super talented young runners just throw away this by birth given oportunity to become a great runner. Had been understandable if he had got a severe injury that stopped his running career , but in this case the cause he didn't know how to train smart and effective and refused to have a very experienced coach to guide him. So sad really......
Illusion of Mind Reading: Pearlman often claims he can read minds through body language and micro-expressions. However, experts argue that these skills do not allow for the specific insights he presents during performances. Instead, he uses established mentalism techniques that have been around for centuries.
Psychological Manipulation: Pearlman emphasizes psychological influence and interpersonal skills in his performances. He suggests that understanding others' thoughts and emotions can create the illusion of mind reading. This involves techniques such as neurolinguistic programming and strategic misdirection.
Pre-Show Preparation: Many of Pearlman's tricks rely on gathering information about participants before the show. This can include casual conversations or research that allows him to reveal personal details during his act, such as PIN codes or names.
Classic Mentalism Gags: Pearlman's performances often include variations of classic mentalism tricks, which are designed to create a sense of wonder and disbelief among audiences. Critics note that while his act is entertaining, it is not based on supernatural abilities.
Conclusion While Oz Pearlman captivates audiences with his mind-reading performances, the reality is that his tricks are rooted in traditional magic and psychological techniques rather than any real ability to read minds. His success lies in his skillful presentation and the audience's willingness to suspend disbelief. Understanding these elements can demystify his performances and reveal the artistry behind his mentalism.
OK, but Pearlman is good at what he does, audiences appreciate it, and...I just saw him on Fox News (of all places!) where he talked openly about his successes as a runner and claimed that at least some of it related to the mindset he adopted as he perfected his craft.
And it is a craft. We all know that magicians aren't really capable of anything supernatural, and none of us are demystified by it, unless we adopt a fair measure of cynicism.
Because...several decades ago French psychologist Octave Manonnoni...wait, this guy (who looks so French and so like a psychologist that you can practically smell the baguettes and feel the ennui):
Wrote about theatrical illusion and how audiences are "fooled" by it despite their knowledge they are being deceived. He called the phenomenon "Je saia bien, mais quand même..." ("I know, but all the same..."). We aren't really fooled when Pearlman or anyone else performs a feat that is inexplicable unless you know the mechanics. Knowing the mechanics doesn't really remove the wonder. We allow ourselves to be fooled. That's really how the trick works.

Well we all know that with those times he will not get a lucrative paycheck he needs a real job. In running you gotta win races in order to to make some money and in order to sign decent contracts you gotta be able to make to WC or Olympic Games otherwise is basically just a hobby that is basically an obsession that makes those runners basically losers lol serious runners must have a plan B. Running will not be a career path for the immense majority of runners and even for those that make it most runners career don’t last long.

Running is no different than other sports. There are guys that play 5+ years of baseball minor leagues that don’t make the majors and football players that are on the practice squad for a few years. The vast majority of professional athletes need a plan B, and runners aren’t the only potential losers in sports.
The thread subject is more talented than most and putting of his post running career for a few years, wouldn’t have been a bad decision.

He was 13:29/28:23/1:02:53 (falling heavily in the race, would have been 1:01:30, possibly) with mostly tempo running. He was just 18/19 at the time. Had he slotted into his country's federation system, he would have probably progressed to 13:00-13:10/27:00-27:20/59:00-60:00/2:05:00-2:07:00.
The subject is a nice guy, but stubborn, and loves the bling bling party lifestyle. He was removed from a training camp in Kenya, because he chose to go out and party every night. He's his own worst enemy with regard to his natural progression. Loads of speed (former youth soccer star, at age 10-12). Could run 54.00 for 400.

May we encourage you to renew contact with this runner and give your training system a try. It might suit him.
This Euro wonder kid was running great in 2020, 13:29/28:23/1:02:53, and he was only 19 at the time. Showing great promise.
Fast forward to 2025: He is now a crypto currency online Casino trader. He still runs, but not nearly with the same focus.
He's still only 24, and could possibly get back to good form, but he's burned a lot of bridges. The allure of the bling bling gangsta lifestyle is too much temptation.
Don't see what the big deal is for you and why you keep going on about this guy and also Julien Wanders. They've been done since 2020. The Swedish have a guy like Almgren to cheer on now, whom is way better than Emil ever would have been.
You make it sound like he died as opposed to just growing up and getting a job.
ya, exactly
running is fun and games, and great if you can get away with doing a sport for a living, which is already a strange thing, to do something completely non productive, zero, except entertainment.
basically you pay with your youth and time = money to do this sport, cudos to those that do.
i ran to get into university, and do science, and running actually got in the way, it took some time to quit the addiction, it took an injury, to take a sober look at wtf i was doing, as running became an addition, hard to quit with the job not done, is why you are successful in distance running in the first place. dont' quit.

Well that's an incredibly strange thing to do. Please leave him alone.
