I competed against Arkansas back in the early 90's at their peak under McDonald.
They were obviously monsters and had a deep distance squad and most were milers and yet dominated cross country as their training and motivation were guided by a legend.
This said, Arkansas also had great jumpers who could run relays so it wasn't just a "distance program" as some suggest. They had good coaches and they found talent and every method (scholarship / financial aid) to build a solid roster.
Much respect. Even though I beat them twice at conference in the Steeple, I would have competed for the Hogs in a second.
