Has a married couple before both OTQ'd in the same year for the marathon? There have been enough elite couples (e.g., Gouchers) that I assume it happens not too rarely. What about both making the Olympic team in the same event? (I doubt Kylie can get to that point, but it would be very cool to see)
Wow, that’s a good husband! Two observations - odd that he would wear his pro racing kit. Also, even though he was wearing a bib number, he doesn’t appear in the results.
I noticed that too. I assume he didn't want to risk DQing his wife by pacing her as a bandit, but he also didn't want that time showing up as an official time for him so he peeled off the course before the finish.
He mentioned this in a podcast. Definitely didn't want to bandit a portion of the race and cause a DQ. He was originally on the fence with finishing and having a 2:40 to his name, but then decided he didn't care. He did finish and as of the podcast recording wasn't sure why he was not in the results, but he had told the race director he might not finish, so perhaps they removed him.
I think the kit was more of Kylie's idea so they would match and be cute.
At around halfway, Connor stopped to use a bathroom and then dropped a mile at his sub-5 actual marathon pace to catch back up (only took a single mile).
Imagine being a 2:40 guy, trying to visualize all possible race scenarios beforehand, and then after the start realizing you might be running with Connor Mantz the entire way. Probably not on the bingo card - but not a big deal obviously, just kind of fun.

Imagine being a 2:39 guy and being able to say you beat Conner Mantz in a marathon. Sure there's a major caveot to that, but it would still be a fun story so long as said 2:39 guy doesn't actually get arrogant about that.

Mark Coogan was 2nd and Gwyn Coogan was 4th in the 1996 Trials. Jenny Spangler's huge upset prevented both from representing the US in the marathon in Atlanta.

I believe Matt McDonald and his wife both made it in 2020

Sara and Ryan Hall 2016. Ryan qualified but didn't run. Retired 4 weeks prior.

Spangler´s win might have prevented Gwyn´s participation (she finished 4th and did not have the Olympics qualifying standard). Mark Coogan just did not have a qualifying time. Kempainen (winner) might have had it as the only US runner, but Mark definitely did not.
Correction - Mark Coogan did have the OQ standard and ran in Atlanta, as well as the 3rd placer - Keith Brantly. Even Spangler did have OQ standard. Only Gwyn got bummed, as she finished 4th. I should have checked it before posting...
Like most of you I was fooled by Two Cities Marathon.
What next NYCM -- New York County Marathon, in York, PA?
As someone who works in York, PA, I'll offer the correction that it's simply called the York Marathon and Half Marathon. I believe that's the only full marathon held in York County, though there is another half which I won in 2023.
So if they create a second one it could then be called the New York Marathon?

Yesterday's Two Cities Marathon in Fresno/Clovis, CA was won by Kylie Mantz of Mapleton, UT in 2:43:49. I assume this is Connor's wife. Interesting that she would come to a minor event in central California.
She didn't win the marathon. I counted 10 finishers ahead of her. She was an also-ran.
