leniency for cooperation is a hugely important tool for getting information. you can look at it not as leniency, but the actual intended punishment. those who don't give info are actually penalized.
it's all in how you word it. Are you paying a 3% penalty for using a credit card, or getting a 3% break for using cash?
Smart leadership goes with the positive verbiage, IMHO!
I don't think she was suspect. I genuinely do not understand why she seems to be one of the most hated people on letsrun. I'm grateful that she helped expose Salazar and has fought for years for clean sport. She's on the side of the good guys in the fight for clean sport.
Regarding why she is hated…. It’s because she symbolizes the fast hot girl on the xc team that all of the letsrun incels got rejected by over and over.
Eh. She’s the hot fast girl that you date and then realize is psycho but that no one will call her out on it because she’s hot and fast. Comes across very narcissistic and egocentric. Met her a few times and, well, boy glad I’m not Adam.
Kara Goucher @karagoucher I agree. I don’t understand the leniency for cooperation but I don’t make the rules.
She is responding to the fact that they take a year off of your suspension for admitting you drugged. This is precious coming from someone who was highly suspect herself throughout her career.
"Highly suspect herself"

She has an obnoxious need to be admired - evidenced by bragging about her son in a way that does nothing helpful to him, but makes her feel important again. That and the whole “Hiltz/they” thing which is so inauthentic. She was a great runner, though, I agree with that!

Highly suspect by the loser trolls on lets run who hate someone else's success especially if it's a woman who wouldn't date the.
Be serious.
Maybe you are right. But rather than name call, tell me where I’m wrong.
1. Adam and Kara were both struggling with their running. 2. Salazar had a bad reputation going back to his own running days and his working with Mary Slaney. 3. Coach Wetmore warned them about Salazar. 4. They both still went to Salazar and saw huge improvements. 5. Kara never had a problem until she was no longer the favorite in the group. 6. She left to go to Jerry who we now know has defended a drug user he coached. 7. Kara testified against Alberto. 8. Kara is now outspoken against drugs.

How is she suspect? she was herself a victim of sexual assault and abuse by CIA Manchurian candidate Alberto Salazar. Did everyone know Salazar was in the CIA program together with Mo Farah and Galen Rupp? A white man winning Olympic silver is only possible when CIA with the blessings of UK Mi5 intelligence targeted the Ethiopians and Kenyans bio signature electromagnetic field with a directed electronic beam using cellular and gps technology around the London Olympic stadium. Only Rupp and Farah got an exemption and was able to freely express their electromagnetic fields and enabled them to win. Their electromagnetic fields pushed against the Africans fields as it was stronger and more powerful unlike the Africans which had been suppressed by those directed electronic assaults. It’s simple physics at work and so Farah and Rupp won. It’s not because they were more talented or ‘stronger ‘ than the Africans they weren’t. They were unfairly aided by something even better but more covert than drugs.
Drugs was always a red herring sidetrack to divert attention away from the crown jewel weapon, ‘choice drug’ to out another way, that’s your directed electronic weapons from cellular towers and wifi.

Salazar had a demon possessed in him. What we didn’t know was that Nike was a known patron of the CIA. All American companies are except LRC which has remained independent from CIA influence and corruption and that’s why I dare to whistleblow here and not in front of the pentagon building carrying placards. I feel safe on LRC saying that Nike and Salazar group were patrons of the CIA’s mission to create the ultimate white male athlete to rival the Africans and they didn’t just use lame drugs that are not really effective but they used electromagnetic frequencies embedded secretly in all public wifi and cellular systems. This was already the case in 2012. Actually it has been so since 1960s at the US embassy in Moscow. It’s the frequencies that delivered the blast of good effects that enabled Farah and Rupp to succeed in London

Ever heard of the saying all roads lead to Rome ( CIA )? There is no circumstance in and out of the United States that the CIA is not directly or indirectly behind manipulating. Until you understand this simple physical law of the CIA you will never understand that Kara was hated by the CIA because she out a roadblock in CIA’s mission to use Nike dollars to create a string of white aryan supremacy in track and field

My preferred pronouns are “totally exalted.”. Please use that, or else you are a bigot.

The problem is in this case they gave her the year for cooperating after she was caught lying. That shouldn't happen. It should only be if you admit it the first day you are popped. Not after denying it first.
Personally I'm against it anyway because I think the first offense for anything including a diuretic or even a whereabouts failure should be lifetime ban with no possibility of reinstatement in any sports governed by a national body. There should never be a second chance for anyone caught cheating.

You can't actually be that dim to think that she's being obnoxious about her son. If you listen to her show (as I do), you'd know that part of the beginning segment is Kara and Des giving life updates. Kara has a child that she clearly cares about and has raised to love the sport of running rather than bring burnt out by high school. He made it to state a FRESHMAN in a region that has the boulder schools in it, which is actually incredibly impressive. I hope you can be lucky enough to have children someday, so you can realize how much you enjoy their success. Get over yourself.

Because she is one of the good guys, people like the OP hate her for exposing bad guys aka Salazar.

Hard to tell from this post, who Kara is talking about.
But "substantial assistance" (10.7) and "early admission and acceptance" (10.8) are two different things.
If Kara is talking about Chepngetich, she actually got a 3-year ban for a default 2-year offense for a diuretic. If Ruth had not cooperated, and plead ignorance, and agreed not to contest the charge, she would have been eligible for a 1-year reduction, or a 1-year ban (although probably not, because of the photos on her phone raising questions). Kara's post would make more sense in that case. But instead, Ruth effectively admitted "intent" as a reponse to the initial charge, so the charge was amended, and the ban was increased from 2-years to 4-years, then reduced by 1-year to 3-years.
I don't fit any of your strawmen, want to give it another shot?
I despise Salazar and 100% support his lifetime ban.
But bottom line is that if you have a coach-led doping scheme that leads to the coach getting a lifetime ban, then there's going to be doped athletes.
And Kara 100% was one of those doped athletes.
Is that the bottom line? This looks like you are trying to rewrite history.
The lifetime ban was from SafeSports, for slippery fingers during a massage. The reach of SafeSports is limited to the US, and to organizations under the scope of the Olympic Committee. Theoretically he could still coach privately, or (if I'm not mistaken) coach AAU athletes, or at colleges, high schools, or middle schools.
The "coach-led doping scheme" as such did not lead to a lifetime ban. The doping acts that Salazar was sanctioned for 1) testosterone experiments on his non-athlete sons, to which Salazar confessed before the investigations, and 2) Salazar's role in Magness's (also a competing athlete) rule violation of infusing too much liquid within 6 hours. This led to a number of findings such as trafficking testosterone to third parties, possession of a banned substance outside its prescribed purpose, and attempted obstruction of the process, (including sending an email). All of the findings combined led to a 4-year ban.
Outside of Magness' infusion, none of the decisions involved the doping of any NOP athlete by Salazar, including Kara.
