I didn't catch the Friday action. I missed the D3 1600 but was quite surprised the winner hit 4:16.
I think the bottom line is the depth in the boys races was tight and their races all go tactical. Its all about the win first. For a dominating runner who isn't worried about the competition, its easier to focus on time. I thought Melhorn would have been in that category and was expecting him to go out in 2:14-4:29 but it was very windy during his race. Balyo from my vantage point looked like he was quite capable of going 10 seconds faster. Look to see him run around 8:55 at least in the post season national meets.
But the efforts of Franek and Bizzari were more impressive that day. Especially Bizzari in the 1600 against Infeld. That was the highlight of the meet for me-the Girls D1 1600.
Overall it was a great meet-Horn, Saine, Franek, Bizzari, Beard. also the 24-0 long jump. Has to go down as one of the best Ohio State meets ever
