it's the double threshold for sure. i doubt he used double threshold back when he was a 800 runner and was injured all the time. he said earlier in the season that he definitely can't go 1:45 anymore these days, maybe 1:47.
Indeed, he got started with double threshold somewhere around 2021 or 2022. He's been injured basically every season in his career, but he responds better to higher volume and lower intensity training compared to focusing too much on speedwork.
I feel like he's always been better suited for longer distance stuff, despite him being successful at 800 as a junior. He has a background as a soccer player and was on the verge of going pro in one of the best Swedish clubs when he finished third at U20 Worlds in the 800.
I'd guess that focusing on 800 served him better as a soccer player, but I feel like his results in the 1500 and 3000 are comparately pretty weak compared to what he's done in the other distances. His PBs in the 1500 and 3000 are 3:32 flat and 7:31 mid.
And man, I would have never guessed that a runner from Sweden, where I'm from, would belong in the world elite, but he has become the fastest white guy in history across multiple distances.
