democrats could reopen it at any time. The shutdown is on their hands.
Well, what are the Democrats holding out for? Is it the Obamacare tax credits that are set to expire & the Republicans don't want them renewed? Or is it something else?
Schumer says the Republicans don't want to sit down & discuss Obamacare tax credits. The Senate majority leader guy (I forget his name) says if the Democrats vote to reopen the government, then they'll sit down & discuss healthcare. Schumer then says that's a ruse by the Republicans & they have no intentions of wanting to discus healthcare.
Other than traveling, I don’t really care if the government never reopens. My job and my life does not rely on the federal government. My company manages assets for large state pensions, but that’s not federal. The biggest impact in my life will be air travel. I wouldn’t be able to travel anymore. I have a trip to Peru and Chile in December so they better get it sorted out by then.
If you don't need a government you don't need a President. You could fire Trump.
What happened in the past when militaries went unpaid?
It wasn't exactly a pay issue but when the Praetorian Guard gets p*ssed off that's the end of Caesar, as we saw with Caligula. That's what lies in store for Trump.
I respect Rojo’s input. Could this shutdown lasts for years? If yes, what will happen?
Trump is already assuming the role of the House. He figure out he can do whatever he wants when they are on vacation. Trump will make it a permanent vacation as soon as they try to comeback to work (approve a budget).
Next to eliminate is the Senate. 2026 elections won't matter. Trump will call all elected House and Senators ambassadors (with no powers).
