I am a senior in high school and cannot seem to get good at cross country. As a junior in track, I ran 1:55, 4:13 mile, and 9:12 3200m. In cross country, I have never gone under 16:20. I am at 5500 ft of altitude and have never run at sea level in a cross country meet. I am a sea level merchant on the track and run 9:50 at alittude then run 9:12 a sea level. I have been running track and cross country for a while now and I can't figure out why I'm so much better at the other. I am 6'0 and 145 pounds. One possibility was maybe my cadence, I run easy at 160 spm and around 167 spm during xc race. I don't know what to do and am super frusturated that I run 9:12 in the 2 mile and fall off very hard adding on one more mile. I run aroung 65-70mpw. Any insights?
More hill work? Tempo runs on hilly terrain?
