My Sophomore year of college like Aaron I was coming off injuries. My best 8k XC time was 26:02 my average was 26:50. My average race finish was 24th.
On The Track:
400m: 52.05
800m: 1:58.63
1,000m: 2:33.93
1,500: 3:57.53
Mile: 4:12.21
3,000m: 8:36.89
5,000m: 14:39.90
10,000m: 30:00.09
Steeplechase: 9:10.49
The following Season.
My Junior year of college. I was pretty much back to health. My best 8k XC time 24:27 my average was 24:43. My average race finish was 5th
On The Track:
200m: 21.99
400m: 47.97
500m: 1:02.43
800m: 1:46.96
1,000m: 2:22.05
1,500m: 3:41.57
Mile: 4:00.01
3,000m: 8:00.08
5,000m: 14:04.35
10,000m: 28:57.25
Steeplechase: 8:59.01
400hh: 52.05
The numbers seem a bit contrived. Sub-somethings 21:99, 47:97, 1:46:96, 28:57, 8:59.01 NIce!! So close-somethings: 30:00.09, 4:00.01, 8:00.08, 52.05 Ouch!! Also numerical aesthetics: repetition of numbers 2:33.93, 2:22.05, 52.05, 01 x 2 and sequences :12.21, .2.43, 4.35, 46.96,47.97...Coincidence or what came to mind?
That guy's times are total BS. Who in college races everything from 200m to 10,000m, including the steeplechase and 400hh? Did his college track team only have like 5 guys, requiring him to run in almost every event? Did he have to do field events too? lol
This wasn't his first race back. He ran in NAU's home meet Labor Day weekend, and he ran at the Gans Creek Classic.
I asked AI to do an analysis of the runners he ran against at both Gans Creek and in today's race, to see how much progress he's showing relative to others. Unfortunately, it's not looking good for him (yet). Here's the list, in order of those who slowed down the least between Gans Creek and Nuttycombe to those who slowed down the most.
The average slowdown from Gans Creek to Nuttycombe for the other runners was 46.7 seconds, and the median was 45. Sahlman's slowdown was 67 seconds.
This is very close to what I came up with off the top of my head, Nuttycombe is 40 seconds slower than Gans Creek. What was the average for all runners competing in both races? (Except for Excel formulas I’m still AI free)
In the top-level races, the average slowdown for the 105 men who ran in both races was 42.9 seconds (3.0%).
Kudos to Portland's Jonas Price, Michigan's Nolan Clark, and Washington State's Evan Bruce. They each ran more than 20 seconds faster at Nuttycombe than they did at Gans Creek!

Who cares what Aaron Sahlman's politics are? Also, claiming that "MAGA has no sportsman" is neither relevant nor true. Either way, he has the right to support whomever he wants, same as everyone else.
I'm not too high on Putz, odd body composition. Hoping he succeeds, but I think Juan Gonzalez will have a better career. I'm intrigued to see where Grady Lenn ends up as well, I probably missed where he committed
"Odd body composition" and I look him up and he's just black
I know he was running on grass, but this is probably similar to the tempo runs he was doing in high school.
The grass didn't seem to bother him when he won NXN with a course record.
Not sure if you are looking for a letsrun argument or entirely missed my point...either way...I was saying his race is no big deal. He's done better in workouts in high school. I mentioned the grass before anyone said, "well it would have slowed him down so he was actually faster than his high school workouts". I'm rooting for AS, but this is a solid D3 freshman time for an athlete not coached very well in high school that a good coach can develop.

I suspect Putz has the same body composition as everyone with a functioning human body.

Question is what was his goal for this run? If it's just a tempo run like the earlier meet, then who cares what his time is.
Plan seems to be to bring him along slowly and keep him healthy, not go all out in the Nutty B race.
He does have an odd body composition when you actually see him in person. He is stocky/stout. Definitely shorter and quite muscular. If he wasnt wearing running gear and you didnt know he ran, you would pick him out as a high level competitive wrestler.
