I’m like this at 40, always sore. But I’m still improving in some areas of running, strength and flexibility. Just takes more time and recovery and I have to really cut down on caffeine so that my body can relax for me to recover. I figure it like this, I may always live with some pains but it’s like arthritis, not using your joints, tendons, muscles just makes the pains worse. You might be fine initially but the pains come back.
I also hope as I get older I have more time where I can focus on stretching a little more, massages, etc to nourish my body.
There's a world of difference between 40 and 60. Things change RAPIDLY. You dont age on a liner scale. Enjoy racing and competing in your 40's, you can still knock out some impressive times and workouts. I would LOVE to be able to go knock out a 15M long run with my friends again, or push it to the limit on a hard track workout... but those days are gone.
The pain I'm talking about isn't muscle pain from a hard workout (that's a 'good' hurt) , I mean joint pain, and very stiff muscles. It's really just a constant pain and discomfort that is hard to describe, you just have to live it to know it.
