You you’d be an idiot to run for the group in Eugene. You need to hire new coaches and a new image
If you are a shoe company, you'd have to be an idiot to pay Sean McGorty a contract to run for you if you. Why in the world would you sign a 30-yr old who ran 13:13/27:20 this year and was 11th at USAs?
And if I was McGorty, why in the world would I continue to run pro when I am a 30-yr old Stanford grad. I had a good run, I should have no regrets. It's time to go make some money and find a career.
I guess if he wants to try a new coach for 3 more years, he can but the odds of him making the Olympics are close to zero at this point. We really think he's beating Nico, Grant or Graham in 2028?

If Nike still paying him, why not. The real world stinks. I think some of have been there and have had a hard time letting go the dream. But dropping BTC is a start.
Haglund’s is a b*tch and didn’t help his career, obviously. Remember when he tried the steeple? Good times … let’s take an injury prone runner and throw him in a taxing discipline. RIP BTC
Hey it’s not that crazy, just worked for Beamish. Jager was also injury prone pre steeple career.

Jager was also injury prone during his steeple career. We shall see what the future holds for Beamish.

That's about Parsons level, right? Maybe he signs with Tracksmith or Bandit.
Both he and his brother Brandon are talented but seemed to have flamed out. Sean had a nice Stanford career and both got good degrees so you can’t shame them for it. Shows how hard it is to “make it” at the next level.
7:32, 13:02, 27:18 and a world team is “making it” in most people’s books.

Not an Olympian
true, but in context, not as damning as it may sound. If he was in 10K shape in 2021 it’s not at all unreasonable to think he takes Klecker’s spot or maybe Woody/Nico’s in 2024. His career was marred by injuries, not talent/racinr acumen

And maybe Hunter could have made that team if he had focused on 10K. But he didn't. Sara Hall should have been able to make one US team in 6 Olympic cycles. Yet she didn't and not without good reason. Avoiding injury is certainly part of talent and acumen. Mental gymnastics and feelings don't change the facts.
Good decision. Hope he will still run a couple more seasons.
Probably should have left BTC when others did. His last couple of years might have been much better. He is a super talented runner just needed better coaching, less intensity, specifically designed for his attributes.
JS was all about himself making money and was disingenuous to the BTC athletes. It seemed like he changed around the time of the Houlihan situation maybe even before. He was longer in it for the athletes. Of the athletes who have left BTC, they left being polite in print but never bring up JS’s name. That silence is telling.
I've enjoyed watching the arrogance and surliness beaten out of him at the pro level.
