Exactly. Galen couldn't break 28:00 in 2021 in super shoes just before running 2:06 in Chicago. No reason to think he could do it now.

I’m still a fan of the concept and trying to run faster shorter distances to give you the speed reserve for the longer races. I think the marathon is the event you can sorta get away from that concept and be for the most part ok. But with all these Americans breaking 13 for 5k I can’t see the issue with rupp trying to get himself back to at least 13:10 safely. Or if that’s too risky maybe 27:00 for 10k. Mike smith should be able to help get him there if they can stay healthy another year or two. Each 6 months between now and the Olympics should be a notch up in his fitness and performance if he’s staying healthy and consistent. Maybe I could be a bit too ambitious but I’m really rooting for him

You really have no idea. Galen has declined a lot, and remember, at his best he was 26:44 and 12:58, and the 12:58 was 13 years ago, and the 26:44 was 11 years ago. Galen will never run faster than 13:30 or 28:00 again. Galen is limited in his quality work due to previous injuries. He had a great career.

I have no idea, I’m sure my comment didn’t say he could do those things and I did mention numerous times his health. Boy I tell you some of you are very dense or just like to hear yourself talk knowing damn well In person you wouldn’t be on this time with me.

so to help slow boy, I think Galen should still try to maximize his speed reserve whatever that could be. If he can run 28:35 for 10k today maybe shoot for 28:10, or if he can run 13:45 today shoot for 13:25. Whatever it is, start there and work it up to the longer distances. I ran much faster than you, and I know way more about this than you could ever dream of knowing. You are really clueless. Galen will NEVER break 13:30 or 28 again. Your IQ is low.
