USA mess up in 4*400 heats

Zambia came in to pass on the 2nd or 3rd spot inside, but her athlete was in 4th or 5th spot so has to push out passed China, so ended up running into USA.

It was chaotic but not a DQ

Why? The whold team would've been DQ'd for a drug bust.

Hahahaha....300 million people and they can't find any 400 runners that could pass the juice bar.

Almost like getting rid of the coaches that got us there before maybe wasn’t the best idea. In the short term, at least.

Also, the 400m men have done a poor job all World Champs. A shame. Not reflective of their talent; just a bad 400m champs in the mens 400m.

They all should be made to do one-on-one interviews with Jon Gault and rojo.

Somebody should tell the American runners that YOU SHOULDN´T OVERTAKE IN THE LAST BEND. Have "ice in the stomach" and stay behind until the straight where you will look great in the last 100m.

All 3 last runners took the long route gifting he smarter teams in total 12 m which is a lot also considering it was a B-team? (Where was Boling?).

our 4x4 is always good. this is just an example of taking things for granted. dominant teams dominate, and are not put in the positions we are in today. it's really difficult to mimic those situations in practice. Run in the top 2--3 at worst--and you eliminate most of those variables.

im not even sure who we should have run that we didn't. we just haven't been good in the 400.

Why no Vernon Norwood or Patterson on the team? No point in saving them for the finals when you have scrubs. Norwood made up for Quincy Wilson's 47 split to save the Olympics prelim. Could have used more of that

Some one will have to explain why none of our open 400m qualifiers were in this race. You almost have to cheer against them until there is an organizational change in mentality.

I’m sorry, but this is an unacceptable result. They will blame the changeover, when the root of the problem is who actually was chosen to run. Let me be clear, I have no problem with Bailey running… Even though he did not look great in qualifying, he earned the right to be there and has been a steady hand. It appeared to me he did a pretty good job. McIver and deadman, they competed admirably in the mixed relay, so if you were going to run some alternates they showed fitness just several days past. The second leg, though, I’m sorry, but he should not have been on the track. When you have guys like Vernon Norwood and Khaleb McRae sitting at the house fresh, why would you even run the dude that was seventh at trials. He did not earn his way, and he obviously was not ready. Forget the changeover, if you ran Vernon Norwood on second leg, you do not have that problem because you have a clean line. This is poor management and poor decision-making. Funny thing is the dude that ran 2nd is coached by one of the USA relay coaches… so we have politics and personal bias playing into decisions that should be made for the better of the team and the USA. Get these professional clowns who are attached to agents and shoe companies out and get somebody in there who understands relay coaching and does not play favorites. Vince Anderson, please come save us. The same clowns almost blew it at the Olympics when Vernon Norwood had to go save team USA after Quincy dropped a 47 split, and they ran him knowing he was injured. Before that, they knowingly left quality alternates at home. There’s no excuse for this and they should be held accountable.

have to wonder if some of these guys didn't take enough pride in their training, just knowing they're gonna get shuffled out for the finals.

I don't know the personalities and what their team mindset looks like. I'm guessing the leadership isn't good though. And wouldn't be surprised if the 4x4 is a complete afterthought to the people who are supposed to be leading these young men.

How do you screw up handoffs in a 4x4?

The lineup we chose was ridiculous, but not sure how you can think Cole Hocker impeded Farken and not determine that the US was impeded here. The Zambian literally steps in between the incoming and outgoing runners as we are attempting a handoff.
