Warholm had a terrible race by his standards, not sure what happened, but he has had a very good year, 32.67 300mH world best, 46.28 400mH world-leading, DL Final win, and for his career, he has 3 world championship golds, 1 Olympic gold, Olympic record, multiple world records, one of the greatest performances of all time in that 45.94 by the charts, 3 DL Finals wins, and roughly 24 DL wins. When he started winning world's, he won in a 48 mid! The competition has only gotten better and he has had to beat three of the best ever. It turns out that while Dos Santos and especially Samba, for years, declined from their top level, Benjamin kept getting after it, adding cycling to his training, and has now been able to win Olympic and World gold after getting bested again and again by Warholm. Being at the top of the best era ever in 400m hurdling makes him the best ever, but he's still vulnerable to Benjamin getting there.
Edwin Moses is still the GOAT in my view.
Moses won every global championship available to him from 1976 to 1987.
If not for the USA's 1980 boycott, Moses would be a three-peat Olympic champion.
The unparalleled undefeated streak.
Ranked #1 by TFN 9 times (Warholm has been ranked #1 "only" 4 times)
Innovator of the 13-step pattern
Also noteworthy, Warholm now has a losing head-to-head record against Benjamin: 5-6. An athlete's GOAT case is really compromised when they have a losing record against a contemporary.
Agreed, it’s kind of crazy how people argue Warholm is the GOAT just because he has the WR. It’s the same with duplantis, Bubka still has better career put simply.
seems like his body can't tolerate rounds any more
what does being the best long sprinter have to do with beating all the 2nd rate long sprinters who don't even belong there?
Whole problem with Olympic and WC model. It's a joke. This is not how you find out who's the best. Stop running the legs out from under them with frivolous heats and semis, and do a serious 1-off final between the world's top 8 by form.
