But Hull gets a special pass on many fronts, not least of all avoiding scrutiny for her "interesting" sudden improvement.
What about the scores of Africans with so-called sudden improvement? Why do they ALL get a pass for amazing drops in race times? Like say, 23 year old wonder-teen Phanuel Koech? Oh, that’s different.
There are dozens of examples of runners being clipped from behind or otherwise falling in "not-at-fault" circumstances, with the runner NOT being re-instated.
Foster Malleck in the men's 1500 comes to mind this WC.
Part of racing is staying on your feet. Selecting higher-risk or lower-risk positions and lines throughout the race is PART OF RACING.
Man, Hulls family must have been alerted to the thread or something.
Here is another way to look at this. For Hull to be reinstated, the competition judges etc basically said "You were the victim of some foul play. This wasn't just part of "racing" - somebody jostled you and that's why you get back in". EXACTLY like what happened to Farken.
But of course what else happened in that situation? Cole Hocker was DQ'd. So why wasn't Sekgodiso DQ'd? Now they might have said "well she DNF'd anyway whats the point" but I doubt it - I don't think when they looked at it closely and objectively she would get DQ'd for this - does anyone?
So it all seems a little subjective and muddled. Look, they put her back in because she's an important face of womens middle distance - we don't need to sugarcoat it. Some people might say that's a good thing and the right thing to do for the sport bigger picture, others might say it's not. Everyone has their own opinion.
