An 81deg dew point (not sure how to do a superscript degree symbol on this phone) with 86deg air temperature would have been a lot worse than with just 81deg air temp.
An 85deg air temperature with only a 79deg dew point (Misery Index of 164deg) is arguably worse conditions than 82deg air temp and 81deg dew point.
Simply put, this is why you need an index that includes BOTH the air temperature and dew point, aka, The Misery Index.

I have actually run in these conditions. What your closed mind is failing to grasp, is that Dew Point, is critically important, but only part of the story. The air temperature is also important. That has nothing to do with ophra or whatever other nonsense you are espousing.
Scroll down to the August table. The Dew Point got up to 75° for a couple of days.
Think about the runners who prepped for Tokyo in Hawaii beforehand. Didn't they realize that they call Hawaii paradise for a reason? Expect DP in the low 60°s there.

What? Pretty much everyone who has trained in the deep south has likely run in 81 DP. It is not common, but it gets there. Gainesville hit 81 DP earlier this summer, for example.

Yup. What you say is true, however even in the deep south 81° DP is rare. Tokyo it's not. We went over this in great detail at LRC 20 years ago.
Hint: try training in Nebraska during the Summer. The so-called "corn effect" really supercharges the air with moisture.
