I think “for gleefully rejoicing in the murder of the man” or “for callously making jokes about the murder of the man” is more accurate.
are you going to provide examples of anyone who lost their job over deciding to post something like “It’s tragic that he died but he said [insert thing that person would disagree with].”
I think that last item would be in poor taste, and it’s very different from what I would consider appropriate, which is simply “This is a horrible event and an unconscionable act of violence. My heart goes out to his family.” Full stop.
But even though I’d disagree with the people posting in poor taste, I wouldn’t necessarily consider them displaying highly questionable values or antisocial begavior. And I haven’t seen any such people facing serious consequences for it.
