They banned her coach and team but also just announced her teammate as the new 2025 champion...
So the Sierra-Zinal association also banned Julien Lyon (coach of the Milimani Runners)

I have found some of the other performances this year highly suspicious. Completely agree that gtws needs to be testing.
I love watching the coverage of the races but some performances seem too good to be true.
I love that they dropped her instantly. I wish every other brand of the same and Nike should have taken notes with that Houlihan situation.

It was the hot drug for a while in Kenya. It’s pretty idiotic to take it near a race as that is the only time it’s banned. But this just shows you the shady figures in Kenya who’d give an athlete a detectable drug right before a race with certainty they’d get popped if they got tested. The frequency of busts for it has gone down and there was a big bust at the airport too. But still obviously some athletes are falling prey to it or ignorant/careless enough to use it anyway.
You need some trail experience, but not years.
I think Sifan Hassan could also win it out of the blue.
Sophia Laukli won it in 2023 after a year of trail running.
Nienke Brinkman was second in 2021 after only a couple of trail races.
The female Sierre Zinal winners from 2019 - 2024 all tested positive at some point in their careers, except Laukli.
yes a world class runner, world class nordic skier, and national class marathoner would/have done well early at SZ. Joyline was a mom who hadn't run in decades.

At least Nike allegedly fired Houlihan, and didn't rehire her (yet), but did so with Gatlin. Maybe the times are changing, and even Nike doesn't officially support dopers anymore.

Was actually interesting that about halfway through one of her Salomon Aides make her take off her headband which the commentator mentioned wasn't a Salomon product
So either was just very bad planning or Salomon seemed more like a side sponsor ?
So was probably pretty easy for them to just ditch her as sure that would have already caused some anger ..

Salomon didn't just end their sponsorship with Joyline, they terminated their sponsorship of the entire Milimani Runners team.

I looked up Triamcinolone acetonide and found that in the US it goes under the brand name, Kenalog, among others. I'm a 73yr old runner, who does local races and I'm not likely to bump anyone off a podium. I didn't realize Kenalog was on the banned substance list, and I've had a Kenalog injection in my shoulder in '23 and '24. I haven't needed one yet this year. I have a frayed rotator cuff and bone spurs that limit range of motion in my right shoulder. If I was regularly doing a sport other than running I probably would have had some serious shoulder surgery by now. My experience with Kenalog was that within hours of the injection, all pain in my shoulder was gone and I had more strength in my shoulder. The effect lasted for at least 6 months before I slowly developed some inflammation again in my shoulder. The drug definitely has performance improving effects. If I need a future shot, I guess I'll just lay off racing for a few months even though my prospect of ever being drug tested after an event is nearly non existent.
More white manipulators stitching up an athlete then doing a runner when she gets nabbed. Why is it all these athletes are getting done and NOBODY else, trainers etc are ever done with them. Do you think this athlete has bought it off the darkweb and done it herself? Methinks corruption is very deep and only the surface is ever investigated. You remember that time when Genzebe's coach got caught with a load of PED equipment in his hotel room? How come it never goes anywhere?
The same reason Hillsboro justice was never had, the same reason Saville had freedom of the city, the same reason a US military servant can drive the wrong way and kill an 18 year old boy and walk away.

Just want to point out – that means 2 out of 3 tested positive at some point. Mathys won four times in a row. 2019-2024 makes it sound a bit worse.
Any time I watch a high profile race, I assume more Kenyan athletes are dirty than clean. Seems like every week I'm hearing about another athlete getting popped, so there is validation. And now they are flooding into the collegiate system where they dont get tested..............
