That's a lazy take. Look at her spring racing schedule from last year, when she went on to win Olympic gold:
March 30: ran 3 races (100m, 200m, and 4x100m) at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays
April 20: ran the 400m at LSU
May 4-5: ran 3 relay races at the World Athletics Relays in The Bahamas
May 18: ran 2 races (the 100m and 200m) at the LA Grand Prix
June 9: ran 2 races (the 100m and 200m) at the NYC Grand Prix
That's very comparable to her spring racing schedule this year.
Yours is a lazy take.
All of these events are one day of racing except for the world athletics relays. This is very different from the demands of Grand Slam Track where athletes needed to arrive Wednesday and stay through until Monday. A Grand Slam meet was 6 days of training disruption with 2 days for travel, 1 day media, competition across 3 days.
Racing for $100000 is not the same as racing for part of a buildup which is at least what the texas relays and the LSU 400m were. She wasn't given a cent for those meets. World relays for someone of her calibre is a paid vacation. The LA and NYC meets very normal early season competition timing where a lot of the sprinters get out and run under/over distance events too.
question for the people in charge of LR: why do you permit unfounded accusations of athletes being on drugs to dominate your message boards. And don't give me freedom of speech bs. Also, it is not infrequent to read not very subtle racist remarks permeating the atmosphere here. Now I know why LR's reputation is below gutter level with many in the running community. Au revoir!

Out due to achilles injury (likely the same one that plagued her at Trials). Citius first reported it.
Thomas: “I understand that it will be disappointing for some track fans to hear this news, but I’ve finally come to the realization that it’s OK to be human and take care of myself. As an athlete, you always want to keep grinding, but sometimes you simply can’t outwork an injury. Sometimes it’s about patience and making the right decision for the long term. All the best to my Team USA teammates fighting for medals in Tokyo.”

She's a black woman. Many here don't like black women, particularly those that have achieved more in their lives than they will ever hope to. It's obvious "It's Obvious" doesn't like black women. He's a chucklehead that can't believe a woman is faster than he is. He's a loser that has never accomplished anything in his life so he feel the need to disparage someone that has. It's typical loser behavior.

I don't buy that she's too injured to go. Her achilles held up in Eugene and since then she's had all this time to get treatment. You can go full send in Eugene but you can't go full send in Tokyo with 6 weeks in between?
Gabby created a weird situation for herself immediately after USAs.
She started posting cryptic messages about dopers but didn't say names. People interpreted it as her questioning MJW's legitimacy which Gabby denied but then openly said her coach (Dennis Mitchell) has to go. Shortly after, MJW unfollowed Gabby. Clearly MJW didn't appreciate the insinuation.
The past two summers, Gabby has won a couple of global golds on 4x1 relays with Tee Tee, Sha'Carri, and Melissa... Let that swirl around in your head for a minute... She's firing shots at the camp who did 3/4 of the heavy lifting for her, twice. They are a big part of her hardware. Imagine how awkward that was going to be if she showed up Tokyo knowing that all three of them were going to be there looking at her like wtf.
Also, Gabby has practically gone full influencer. She has almost nothing to gain from getting smacked at worlds which is what was likely going to happen this time around. That wouldn't be "on brand" for her. Most of her fans are casuals who couldn't understand why the Olympic champion struggled to get 3rd at USAs.
Also, the growing whereabouts buzz is clearly starting to get to her. Now she can lay low until all of that fizzles out.
She has a lot reasons to sit this one out. Why would she run multiple rounds of the 100 in Eugene if the achilles was the reason?

The race card hs been played out. People don’t like her because she’s another big green cheat who revels in the protection she’s enjoyed.
More time doing eccentric heel raises and less time (poorly) trying to justify her missed tests. I’m the wokest person on this site so don’t come at me for racism.
Seems like 5-10% of the people on LetsRun find it orgasmic to use the message board as an outlet to air their identity-related grievances. If you feel that "black" people are treated better than others, fine (generally, they are treated the same as others, and your bigotry towards them subconsciously causes you to misperceive equal treatment as being preferential treatment).
Just use a different forum as your emotional outlet. There are plenty of other places online for you to vent about this.
Sad news. Love Gabby and hope she is able to recover by 2026..
Achilles problems tend to linger and can be career ending.
Thomas will be 29 in December. May be tough to come back from this. Best of luck to her.
The 200 will be hard but she still has a lot of runway left in the 400m if she decides to move up. Seems like the most logical next move.
She should be able to make 4x4 teams, especially since the relay pools are so large. And if you make a US women's 4x4 team, you're getting a gold no matter what. They haven't lost that event in like forty years.
