It’s pretty typical of Norwegian endurance athletes. It’s one of Seilers signature “polarized training” stories - he saw a top skier or runner walk a hill once and it hit him. It wasn’t new 12 years ago.
Even Hadd mentioned walking up hill to keep HR low on easy runs on the infamous 'Hadd thread' on LRC, 25 years ago.
I don't know if he is at the stage where he is able to compete for the gold medal. He is a couple of years past his best days in the 1500m now. There is a saying that a man who knows he is going to win has that look in his eyes. Eliud Kipchoge said that about Kamworar in 2009 and true enough Kam went on to be a champion for a couple of years. Jakob used to have that look and you just can't explain it but it's metaphysical look and you knew he was going to win Tokyo. Fast forward 2022 onwards he lost that look it's like he had taken the wrong medicine and its cells just broke down and said alright NO ENOUGH. 2025 today is just an extension of what was broken since 2022.
He is going to the videos now to set himself free, he finds freedom in expressing himself but just know that once a man lose the ability to free himself by breaking WRs and winning gold medals in his pet event he tries to substitute this freedom by freely expressing himself in more youtube videos. If he was going to win in Tokyo this year you wouldn't see him making episode after episode of youtube videos trying to justify his actions. That's a man on a losing path.
Tell that to Laros and teach him so that he may see that this Jakob is a goner spending his time making youtube videos on the excuse of 'connecting' with his fans. Since he can't connect with his legs he had to find something else to connect too lol! Sorry, I was a little rude but it's the cold hard truth.
He seems to be holding his card close to the vest right now. No videos of workouts or updates on the Achilles. Just easy running and strides.
I suspect he’s 80% of the way back and doesn’t want anyone to know where his fitness really is (in fact he often doesn’t know until he races, which is why he probably wanted to get in a race before World’s). Looks like the rounds of the 15 will be his first outdoor race of 2025
But he can get in a race before World’s, can’t he? He doesn’t need a DL race, and he runs from the front anyway. I am assuming that if he doesn’t race before Worlds then he doesn’t want to race before Worlds.

That tool is fast twitch fibers. His top end abikity to dig deeper is just better than everyone. At this point, to root against Cole is to root against America.
Kerr may have to kick from 800m out if he stands any chance at beating Cole.

You are aware that Jingy ran 3:26 last year right? I wouldn’t say he’s a couple of years past his best days in the 1500. Everyone else has just risen to his level. The podium in Tokyo 2021 were all in the Paris 2024 race, plus Hocker and Nuguse got better. Jakob brings everyone up to his level because they have to be there to be competitive.

Dude have won two gold medals and set two world record this year already.
Cross-Country skiers in Norway have walked the hills on their long runs for decades. Nothing Gjert claims are his inventions or is attributed to him are his orginal ideas.
Around two minutes in, something interesting happened, which I also saw in a Hocker/Teare video several months ago. And it's something I have always agreed with myself, fwiw.
They got to a good sized hill on an EASY day, and decided to walk it. To keep it easy and save energy for the QUALITY work.
When Hocker and Teare did the same, I believe they said that they didn't want to go "lactic" on their easy run. It was something like a 4 mile easy AM run in their case.

Far from it. Old news.
It seems overly fussy to me. It is quite possible to run very easy up a hill. (This is different from skiing up a long steep hill with good form, which is not possible to do without some exertion.)
I think one of Jakob's strengths is that he has the confidence and history to train without needing to know where he's at going into the first race of a season. When I hear about his training I always think, wow that sounds great but I would be dying to do more race specific work to "see where I'm at" and build confidence. That's easier going into an early summer race than it is now. It will be interesting to me to see how well he can jump into racing this late in the year without the type of confidence boosting workouts/races others might do.
Yeah Jakob has spoken about this a couple of times,
and on the Coffee Club podcast with Henrik, where they talk about the carrot harvesting analogy (some athletes need to see their fitness in training, and pull out the carrot so to speak, before it is ready for harvest).
You have to understand that Jakob is one of the most self confident athletes ever, and doesn't need to prove that to himself in training.
The bigger picture of these video blogs, is that Jakob is in total control of his narrative in 2025. It is a very interesting thing. Journalists need permission to use copyrighted content or sometimes fairuse laws come into play. This YouTube content is mostly useless for jounalistic reporting purposes from what I understand, and is the reason why you only occasionally get a line or two from the Ingebrigtsen's media dude on some Norweigen news website about what is going on.
And Jakob hasn't done any other media interviews, or podcasts or articles for us to really understand what is going on. There are a lot of questions not being asked to Jakob.
