Terrible take lol. This was a solid field and it became more about tactics, positioning and execution than anything else. Nuguse passed with flying colors in what could be a lot like a Worlds semi. The top 4 look like good bets to make up 1/3 of the final in Tokyo. If anything, the race seemed to separate the contenders (top 4) vs some somewhat hyped/formerly well-regarded guys.
You may ask: why does this 4:48 video cut from 1:40ish to 2:33? Because that's the time they cut out of the live broadcast to cover a meaningless pole vault attempt
Maybe there's a full race out there somewhere, but it wasn't even broadcast in its entirety live
I'm happy for him, good win, but it was a slow time against a weak field. He needs to show more. Still, a DL win is a DL win.
As others have said, got to be concerned about Kessler.
The slow time caveat is silly. We know Nuguse is good at time-trialing and he went under 3:46 despite going out in 1:51-mid for 800 at Pre and pushing from there. It’s actually better to see that he trusted his kick and tactics and got it done. He’ll need to be willing to run a few different ways at Worlds
The only concern today was things went haywire for the Cheruiyots and they still almost got him. Beating guys like Nordas and Myers decisively with them running relatively clean races is a good sign. So if it’s a 12-person final with the big kickers today was probably a sign that Yared might want to take it slightly earlier (500m out?). He won’t have Gourley to run interference for him in all likelihood.

He closed a 3:33 race slower than the USA medalists closed a 3:30 race.
More disturbing on that front is Kessler. Reynold Cheruiyot 12.1, Tim 12.2, and Kessler…12.6? Nuguse and Nordas did work on the last lap for positioning which explains their 12.7 and 12.8s. No excuse for Hobbs, he just doesn’t have that gear.
You mean he's not taking that gear.
More disturbing for you should be that Reynold Cheruiyot hasn't progressed at all in the last 3 years when he suddenly burst on the scene at '18', and yet you still hype him up as an insane talent and future champion.

He is one of the top 7, and the race had 8-12 essentially. The only one of your “top 7” standing in the way of a DL title is Habz right now, who he beat last time out.
