Evie competed at the World University Games in Germany before winning in Eugene should have a valid passport. Kara Winger named thought she retired and not competed including the US Championships. She went to NACAC last time. Hopefully an error. The list still has not come out.

Likely won't here from admistration at USATF. Also where was leadership from her coach and USATF to assist with entering the meet. The other side is how much school is this kid missing for these meets ( worlds is in Sept)? Likely won't have much of an off season.
NACAC is before school starts. Worlds possibly during Bucknell's classes if she makes it. She is a good student. She only throws the Jav,so she will have a long break til Outdoor season!
This is an honest question: what does an official or administrator due to warrant their salaries?
could someone take a stab at an actual detailing of what they do?
also where does USATF’s money come from? Is it a national entity?
I get max siegel makes an obscene amount of money but it seems like the entire organization is bloated/ maybe could be tremendously downsized.
The "administrator" who screwed up probably does not make much. Also, USATF does not have too many people; it likely needs more people. However, it is too top-heavy in salary.
One of the issues is that it is difficult to find quality people to stick around for the salaries non-Max Seigels make.
As mentioned above, she competed in Germany last month, so a passport does not appear to be the issue.
It could be. If she got a passport at 15 for a family trip, a minor passport is only good for 5 years and she can't travel if it expires within 6 month.she could've hit that window in the past month.
Points are MUCH easier to gain at NACAC than in a DL meet. It is a points smorgasbord, and the points remain on your score until the next championship. For example, Ajee' Wilson and Allie Wilson still had their NACAC performance from 2022 as their best score until it finally fell off on July 1 of this year. Almost all performances fall off after 12 months but Area Championships do not. I'm not sure when the next NACAC will be held but probably not until at least 2028. Points are now even more important because the World Athletics Ultimate Championship next summer will award bids to the defending Olympic champ, defending World Champ, Diamond League winner, and the rest according to world rank.
Although I realize the weather's going to be a lot hotter, in the womens 10000, if Taylor Roe runs 33:19.99 for the win, that's worth 1240 points (1070 for the time + 170 bonus points).
If Bliss throws close to her PR of 199-6/60.81m and wins, that's 1263 points (1093 for the mark + 170 for the win). That gives her a 5-meet average of 1125 points (she's at 1075). That puts her easily inside the quota as the number 1 javelin thrower in the US in the Road to Tokyo standings.
Now you understand why she's upset at the incompetence at USATF, though it appears they corrected it (but what happened to the original gal they entered?).

I screwed up on Taylor Roe...in the 10000, a win is only worth 110 bonus points, and not 170 as in the the other events.
There's a different scoring table for the 3000 steeple/5000 (150 for the win), and the 10000 (110 for the win).
Happy to see her get in! Unacceptable that a “clerical” error had been made initially. USATF really must do better. They get paid enough, that stuff like this shouldn’t happen.

I don’t disagree that this should not happen and USATF should do better.
But, paid enough? You sure? Max Seigel is an outlier. The folks on the line making entries and managing meets are not paid a lot. Many should be paid more.
Let me also ask this—all those folks who complain about USATF, are you dues-paying members?
Because if you feel strongly about the need for change—and I agree change needs to occur—those feelings should be accompanied by actions.
Joining USATF is one step. Finding ways to become active in your state-based USATF organization is another. Finding ways to be active in the national organization is still another.
Maybe change cannot happen, but it definitely won’t if folks don’t join, participate, and bring about change.
USATF is a non-profit run by its Members. It’s Members can bring about change.
More fundamentally, I can tell you the folks keeping it together are aging out, getting burnt out, and there is a big need for folks to step up so it does improve, it does get better, and we continue to be the best Track & Field country out there (and our athletes get the support they need!).
I write this as someone who shares these concerns, but has also not been able to take all the steps outlined above.
I am a Member of USATF. I need to do more to participate and be engaged, however, at both the State and National level.
Most folks at USATF are underpaid for their roles, or even volunteers. They do it for the love of the sport and the calling to help out. It’s important not to paint the folks on the line with the same brush as those in the C-Suites.
