13:13 is national class in all but like the top 10 distance running powerhouse countries in the world. It is a time that feels bad to call sub elite, but it isn’t necessarily elite. Very very good time, especially for a guy who isn’t a full on runner
lol @ downvotes, what could your issue possibly be with this
It is way less than 10 countries where 13:13 is not national class.... USA is probably #3 on the list and a guy with a slower pb just finished 4th
Cannot wait hear the tri haters and the sub-elite excuses about this performance. Short 380 meter track? Carbon nano particle bicarb?
Not a track race. If it's road, may not be accurate. I think he's legit track 13:25-13:30 though based in his previous 28:00 track.
Doubt he'd be capable of 13:13 on track. Not happening.
Maybe if he beat his partner, had a drug conviction, cheated his business partners or was just generally less of a nice guy you'd have more respect for him Ghost.

Confirmed - he did it, 13:13.80 in Oordegem (express track) Belgium.
My bad for thinking he was not capable of such a time. 13:13.80 is equivalent to approx 27:28.00/10,000, phenomenal for a triathlete.
How fast is his swimming, btw? For 1500 swim, world class swimmers do the distance in approx 14:30-14:40. I'm thinking Alex could swim 16:00-17:00. Triathletes, confirm please?

You doubt this with results right in front of you, yet you believe runners like Katir/Amdouni/Kenyan du jour are squeaky clean. You’re a complicated man, capable of some truly impressive mental gymnastics.

Who are the fastest swimmers in triathlon at the Olympics? | 220 Triathlon
Confirmed, top triathletes swim around 17:30-18:00 for 1500 open water, compared with top swimmers in the pool who swim around 14:30, Paltrinieri and co. I'm guessing triathletes lose at least 1 minute in open water, so their pool time would be around 15:30-16:00. Yee usually finishes 30-50 secs behind swim leaders, so I'm guessing he could do 16:00 -16:30 in a pool.

Yee (13:13.80), is 3rd fastest Brit this year, as of today, 10 August 2025, behind Mills 12:46.59 and Beattie 13:04.99 (Boston ind).

No doubt. The downvotes because 13:13 would be 13th in this year’s US performance lists. That is national class. Not sure what you gain by pretending it isn’t.
I think a lot of the non-tri fans here are misunderstanding just how incredible an effort this was. Alex raced just a week ago, returning from injury to win the Canada super tri.
Then jumps into a track race and runs a 1313 amongst a bunch of pros who trained through the track full time.
how demoralizing it must be to enter the final run portion with this guy bearing down on you!

Is there a conversion for open water versus a lap pool? seems significant
