I did interval way back in the 80s like that except much lower volume, e.g., 10x400 and I also ran around 14:20..except it was for 3miles! Hence the user name iplod. In HS it seemed to me the coach gave us 2-3 min. recoveries. I decided to try short recoveries and see what would happen.While working full time, I did other low volume workouts like 10x200, 6x800 and 5x1 mile. Two such workouts a week and all with 1 minute recoveries. Alway at paces that didn’t require massive increases in effort to not fall apart on the last reps. No consideration of heart rate, lactate, all subjective. Worked like a charm, went from very mediocre runner to plain mediocre.
