nice to see rupp back. Hopefully he can get into some good shape and run a marathon later this year or early next year. i’m just glad he’s back running healthily.

I love when an aging athlete doesn’t view himself as too much of a legend to show up at a race and run based on your current fitness level. Way too many pro marathoners aren’t willing to race other distances at the end of their career for fear of embarrassment.
I agree - Galen must love the sport. We should celebrate runners running into their 40s and 50s.
Definitely when it is in races like this with no appearance money. I feel differently about those that only race the WMM in their later years for appearance pay days based on PRs run a decade ago.
Galen will be 40 next May. Galen would now struggle to defeat the top women on the track. This is what happens sometimes when one gets injuries and ages out of one’s prime. Also maybe he misses the Salazar secret recipe.
he just dipped his toes in at a no pressure event during heavy marathon training. he is healthy. I suspect we will see him on the start line of a world marathon major shortly.
Galen was 54 seconds behind a 28:19 guy who won, so Galen would be battling to defeat Beatrice Chebet.
Big dawg… I get you may be disappointed with his first race back in almost 1.5 years, but battling to defeat Beatrice Chebet is wild. You do know what the women’s 10k world record is on the track and the roads right?
Thought he was supposed to be great. 5th place. Wow.

Like who? y’all killing me on here this morning. I sincerely appreciate the entertainment lol
Rupp's most recent "world class" performance was the 2021 Chicago Marathon, 2nd place in 2:06:35. I think he was 35 then? He also got 8th in the Tokyo Olympic marathon that year, which is not too shabby.
