Nauman would have beaten Powell for sure. But that record is t going anywhere for a loooooong time. For the same reason. Nauman is a sit and kicker that can't be denied. He won't ever go after that record from the gun and he won't follow record pace. He's the kind of racer most people here don't like because he covers the win first and runs as fast as needed. So, unless he's running for a gold medal that happens to take a record time..just sit back and enjoy the struggle as another generation waits for more super in their shoes.

Not out too fast which kills record efforts and plenty of wallop left. It was a thing of beauty.
This. Webb was a special athlete but his 3:53 was a special performance. Remember, it took Webb 3 years to get back to that time as a pro. Everything just clicked that day.
