I guess I don't get it.
How does this Karnazes long distance walker/jogger continue to get such press coverage when so many up and coming U.S. runners can't get any attention to help further their cause for sponsorship, funding, etc.?

Smoky, what is Condition Yellow?...or does anyone out there know?
This thread tells you about it... I can't reveal more.

Oh,
I found that about it as well:

More than half the guys on this board would struggle with that.
How weird... I'm tempted to apply to see if it's for real or -as I suspect - just a hoax.
Any update? Has anyone applied?

One day fitness warrior or not, I'd put my money on Dean over anyone here.
I don't think you know some of the people who arer on this board. One hint, a lot of fast mid distance guys also have good upper body strength.
I am not really interested in finding out, but why does this Kamazes guy promote himself? Book seller?

I've got to give Dean credit - he ran 9:47, in boots, after everything else. That's pretty tough. He cranked out 72 push-ups and 13 pull ups AFTER swimming, which is very impressive.
You're joking right? First of all the article clearly states that this test is "a set of timed tasks recruits must pass to enter training"..."to enter training"... there is no correlation with SEAL capabilities and fitness with this joke of a screening test. Secondly, this is not even close to the Marine Corps PFT 300pt standard of 20 pull-ups; 80 sit-ups and 18 min. 3-miler, which good Marines rattle off regularly. Finally, don't be so impressed with running short distances in boots; well worn boots are not that tough to run in, it's carrying crap on your back that sucks.
yup
Are the SEALS mostly gay. They say the Navy is all gay. What's the scoop ?
As an ex-Army co-worker told me: "Navy guys are all dance partners for the Marines."
Or something like that. Heck if I know what he's talking about.
what's the point of this thread?
I've noticed an ex-SEAL guy with a SEAL hat, t-shirt, and shorts on, all the time on my bike training rides, following me too close, and is happy like a Mormon. I don't care if he's gay or not. That's his business. I'm suspicious of his intentions though.
Well, just don't stop, get off your bike then bend over to check your pedals if he's around.
An ex-Marine told me that "The Army is for recruits that wash out of boot camp".

The MC pt test is the standard you stated, however in my 4 years of active duty-I never, ever saw a single Marine score 300. Its just not that easy and a 300 is not rattled off regularly, far, far from it. Boots are not tough to run in? Are you for real?
DK's output is impressive...99.9% of this board could not hang with him in overall fitness. You might outrun him (short distance but he'd own you 50 miles and up) but 73 righteous pushups is tough...dead hang pullups are tough-why do guys hate to admit the ol man can spank you? He's promoting our sport..and himself but you would'nt you if anyone cared about your 15:30 5k?
I scored 300 on the PFT in boot camp, 250 at Edson Range, got PFC out of boot camp, at 16 years old.

I dare you to head to Coronado to the training depot and ask that question.
I dare you to answer the question here and now. You can't handle the truth ?
