There needs to be a lawsuit or at least a cease and desist letter for this. The instagram post literally says, "This Nike series" and was posted today.
Lawyer up.
??? Did you read the post? It’s a look at the history of Nike Pegasus - and the description clearly states it’s a loop through time. It’s a look back at people who ran in the Pegasus, and it’s showing the athletes who were paid to run in them. Have you ever seen a contract for promotional photos? They own those photos forever, not just for a single publication. Everyone knows Parker had a nil deal with Nike, the internet is littered with old photos and videos of her wearing Nike. Not too sure why this would get anyone excited unless they didn’t bother to read and had no idea Parker used to be a Nike athlete.
Would we be correct in calling, for instance, Emily Infeld a Nike athlete? NO. She is an ex-Nike athlete, and we all agree it would be incorrect to now call her a Nike athlete, which would infer she is currently a Nike athlete. Everybody but you here seems to understand that. It would be accurate to refer to her as an ex-Nike athlete, or past-Nike athlete.
As a further example, it is analogous to an employee (CEO to the janitor) that once worked for Microsoft (as an example), but left that company to go work for Intel. We would be incorrect to still be referring to that person as a Microsoft employee, rather than a past-Microsoft employee, and current Intel employee.
It looks like someone is trying to make something out of nothing by using an old photo. That Instagram post doesn't have a date on it.
Wrong. The app currently says it was posted 18 hours ago.
And so the posting just happens to coincidentally occur with NBO and Nike Nationals, where young athletes being new to the sport wouldn’t know the difference.
Side question for Rojo, after Tuohy's 15:04 (strong win) in the 5000m at the Portland Track Festival, do you think Tuohy or Valby will end up having a better 2025?
Valby did have a much stronger 8:35 3000m back in February, but might that be her best/only result this year? 8:35 is worth 1215 on the points table (whereas Tuohy's 5000m is only worth 1156).
There is no schadenfreude intended, I am just shocked that this is even a question. That debate --- Tuohy vs. Valby --- seems very 2022.
not applicable to the Instagram posting yesterday, the topic of this thread.
The LRC posting about Verzbicas yesterday seems relevant. There's no rule against posting old photos or videos of runners, is there? Also, neither of them has competed in awhile, and I would guess that their old sponsors aren't champing at the bit to capitalize on their images right now.

Is Verzbicas currently an Adidas athlete? And is there text, generated in very recent history, that accompanies that photo claiming Verzbicas is (currently) an Adidas athlete??
If the answer to both of those questions is “no”, then that Verzbicas photo has nothing to do with this thread.
Regardless of your idiotic definition of “chomping at the bit”, New Balance is literally using Valby in a sponsorship campaign right now, on social media, in conjunction with New Balance Outdoors.
Wow. New Balance is not going to be happy. This is head scratching.
As an average person I don't care but I guarantee you brands will. Athletes have gotten in trouble for wearing shirts from a running camp that had another brand as the sponsor.
execs at NB barely know who PV is. This will probably only be mentioned to them in passing by their head legal or marketing person in the sense of "nike released footage of one of our current athletes recorded when they were with Nike, we're looking into it" and thats basically the end of it.

This was not released by Nike for advertising purposes, rather by the guy who originally made the film. No issue.
