I admit I wanted him to win, but he's fake. He puts on this win or all attitude. It's very off-putting and obviously fake and forced. If he really just wanted to win and that was his only goal, he would keep it to himself.

I agree he’s trying to put on the tough guy attitude. It’s getting old now. He needs a new outlook
I definitely see shades of Cade Flatt in interviews. I think he has a much better future, however. He just has to settle down a little bit to endure.
If Marcus thought this was half the problem the idiots on here do, it would be addressed in a completely no nonsense way. It's not, he says some off color stupid things I don't even like. but has backed up most of it with some really strong 20 year old performances.
The thing is that let’s run community is full of toxic fans. The only excuse for some of you is if you are in middle school.
As for Marco, you mentioned that people will look up to you if you win, I will look up to you if you live a healthy lifestyle, run, great races, get great times, you’ve done the second and third, it strikes me that you might need a therapist because it’s not good for your running or for you to be like this.

His interview was toxic too. Both side on this one
Just rewatched, yes Langon took a step from lane 2 line to outer part of lane 1, as the turn unfurled. He also zigzagged a bit later on the straight as you can in the head-on shot. I don’t blame Marco for his comments, as in the heat of the moment he probably thought he was on point. But yeah on rewatch the whole last 120 was him a little out of control.
The problem is........... interviewing college runners in high profile, high pressure situation. How many of you would have said just the right thing at that time? We are talking about kids in college, who happen to get interviewed for something amazing that they did. The guy is a runner, judge him on that. He got 3rd, awesome.
Is Marco the new Eric Holt. A guy who has a story that he and the media will play up. Trying to be the hero to everyone. In a very short time it all gets very boring.
And to those who talk about the way he carries or presents himself, well that is NJ. Spend any time in the Garden State and you will cross paths with a million Marcos

Sure there’s trash who live in the Jersey shore area, but Marco is a special kind of douche. His teammate, Liam (also from NJ), doesn’t seem to have an issue speaking using proper English to the press.
what do you all see? comparing his 3:33 1500 in dragonfly's with his stride and pop in his diadora's. in the 5000 Does anyone else see less pop and bounce in the diadora's? did he give everyone else a bit of an advantage running in Diadoras? Comparing how everyone else runs in drgonfly's ?????
Don’t quite thing he was calling out us here, think he is saying that people on the boards might be able to argue about HIS mentality of how he approached the race, Marco ran a hell of a race today
Marco ran "a hell of a race" tactically until the last 100m. The last time I checked, you can't win the NCAA 5000m by just running 4900m. I'm good with his honesty and transparency, the only issue with him (and I think he will out grow it), is the dog eat dog win or die mentality. Yeah, it gets you pumped up like caffeine, but eventually it wears off, and then you need more of it to perform well and then the stress of "me against the world" becomes more of a drain and stress rather then just preparing yourself the best you can and executing. I think his coach Marcus O. knows this, and will work with him to balance himself out a bit and to train and compete for himself not just to prove people wrong and justifying who he is. The dude has talent, and I hope he channels his past life experiences into a strength and so much a chip on his shoulder.
