I talked to a coach with an athlete in this 1500. I asked him who would win. He thought Strand would win easily. Thought Strand was just chilling in round 1.
Wow. He didn't win but he shoudl have. I've never seen a guy go from LAST with 150 to go nearly 1st. If he didn't butcher the tactices, he would have won.
Harvard guy from Hungary 3rd.
Kinda underwhelming. Hope the 5k is better
Strand's tactics killed him. Definetly could have one if he wasn't so far back.
Strand ran a poor race, if he doesn't get boxed in he wins it.

Ewwww
Andy Powell goes home elated!
What a boring race though, nobody with guts.
How did strand manage to get shuffled back so badly on the first turn of the last lap. He seemed to be in not great, but ok position at 400 to go?
Was Strand actually last at 150m? Looked like it.
sorry, but this goes back to coaching! no wonder meet record in 44 years old. do these folks think Tokyo 2nd lap will be run in 70 seconds. once centrowitz pulled that off the rest of the world said never again.
Crull got stuck on the rail with no way forward.
Better stream here, without the stupid white box covering the video.
0.68 seconds between first and eleventh

Strand worst tactical race I’ve ever seen.
Well some in the semis were worse....but yes going in i trusted green and spencer tactics more tho Spencer did not quite have it late.
ENORMOUS tactical error by birnbaum to give up the inside front rail like that. you gotta control it from the front like centro did in 2016.
Great run by Nathan Green - good strategy on his part. Always in the front able to match moves.
Terrible ran on Cole Strange part he probably was the most fit but being in last with 150m to go isn't going to win.
Both will be fighting it out at USAs

Wrong, no matter what he wasn't beating Green, he just wasn't good enough today.
silly race and good work for green
but man strand has a good kick
11/12 finishers in the 1500m final were within 1 second of each other!!!
I really wanted Strand to win, but out of all the ways for him to lose, that was probably the best. Tactics are easier to fix than fitness, and he was absolutely flying the last 150m. I expect USAs to be a whole lot faster than 3:47, so tactics won't matter quite as much (but if he runs in lane 2 for a whole 3:30 race like he did last year he's still cooked). Nailbiter, great race, and of course Washington continues their streak. Awesome run from Green, meaning he, Houser, and Waskom all have 2 titles. Absolutely nuts.
Also great run from Ferenc Kovacs of Harvard in 3rd and Jack Crull in 6th. Birnbaum 7th in his first NCAA final, whether or not that's a good race for him, I think it's great experience for him, and hopefully he does ok at USAs.
