Webb 2mile predictions?

Webb does not duck competition. Webb has proven that he doesn't mind going to big meets to get beat by better runners if it gives him the chance to run fast and gain experience. And I'm not so sure that Willis qualifies as a "better runner" right now. Willis is good, but Webb is becoming his superior.

Webb knows what he's going into now after last year's Pre 2 mile. He may not have anyone setting a fast pace, but at least he'll know what he can and cannot handle(although I bet that's changed since last year). I think Webb can go through the first mile in 4:03.xx and the second one in 4:05.xx giving about an 8:09 I'd say. I bet he runs between 8:09-8:10. Hopefully there will be pace setters though.

I'm a huge Webb fan, and not a Willis fan at all, but I think Willis is better at 800 and 1500 than Webb, 1500 only marginally...Webb has run faster but hasn't shown the explosive bang to win a race unless its rabbited yet...I'd rather see him run 8:12 with a big finish than 8:09 dragged out...We all think he can run fast, but the sport is about WINNING.

Cuz Willis did so much better at the outdoor championships last year...

Webb will run about 8.06 - 8.12. Depends how the race goes!

Do we even remember his last mile at Pre? Yes he had pacesetters but NOBODY could run within 5 seconds of him, in a MILE race....yet somehow Willis is better at 1500?

Webb is building his strength each year to do just what he said after last year's WC...be the STRONGEST 1500m runner in the world.

If he can run a 3:26-3:28 by running even splits people with "blazing" kicks like Willis won't really matter.

for someone with a "blazing kick", willis sure got walked at the WC's last year. there are blazing kickers at every level, and willis seems content (as evidenced by his one and ONLY strategy) to be a low 3:30s kicker. webb is clearly aiming to be the best miler in the world. he thinks he can be the next el guerrouj and, let's face it, willis ain't no noah ngeny.

don't get me wrong, willis is gonna be one of the world's best, but there will ALWAYS be better kickers than him. if you're not the best kicker in the world, you'd better be the strongest miler. willis is never going to be either. webb MIGHT end up being the latter.

Willis has beaten Mottram (who was ranked 5th in the world in the mile the year before) in the Mayoral Mile and the 1500m (Gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games), something Webb has never done to my knowledge (while I am certain Mottram defeated him at the Fifth Avenue Mile). Ritz isn't anywhere near being in the same league that Mottram, Willis, and Webb are in their specialities.

That's against Americans who he is supposed to be destroying. Willis is faster at 800m than Webb, has the better 1500m PR (3:32.38 versus 3:32.52), is the better tactical racer (especially in championship races), etc., etc.

Didn't know, or forgot, that Willis was in that race. But, if we are going that far back, then when Willis qualified for the semi-finals of the Olympics he denied a spot to Webb.
