Are you ready for Thursday's 5000m WR attempt in Oslo - Any chance Nico Young breaks it?

To break the WR, Nico Young would have to cut his PR by 16 seconds. Might happen someday, but not in the cards tomorrow. I do think he a good shot at the AR.

My head tells me that a World record is unlikely but who knows, all you need is that one great day. Would Bill Rodgers have thought in his wildest dreams he'd run sub 2:10 when his PB at that point was 2:19 and change?

Obviously his odds of breaking it are extremely low, but the fact that it's even in the realm of remote possibility for a 22 year old American in his first year of professional running is pretty f*cking insane

The pace through 3k for the pacer (7.42) mentioned in the preview is nowhere near WR pace?

WR pace would be 7.33-34.

Is this typo or is there conflicting information with regards to the pacing lights and the pace for the pacer. 7.42 through 3k would probably suit Blanks and Young better and put them in a place to finish strong over the last mile/2k.

Wavelights have changed the game. Jakob through 4:55 in his 3000m WR and blew away 7:20 with a 2:22 final K. Huge finishes are the way now

Do math/think. Nobody is running 7:42 followed by a 4:53 or faster 2k. To target the WR, these guys need 7:37 or faster, keep the pace as close to 60 as possible for 4 laps, and then hope you can summon a ~56 on the last lap.
