I’ve had 4-5 different health insurance plans including Obamacare and by far without a doubt, MEDICAID was the absolute best.
I’ve studied the various aspects and systems used around the world for 30+ years and it’s beyond complicated to explain why here and there are so many different things about it that the media doesn’t ever get into in depth and detail.
But one example is that FDR froze salaries and wages ( in 19??) and in post WW2 America the companies adjusted their hiring benefits to include their employees being offered health insurance benefits along with their government fixed income levels and that’s why so many Americans receive their health insurance at their jobs and with the employee higher turnover rates of 2025 compared to 1945, this creates another set of problems for the employer and employee.
I could go on about the industry but I don’t think it’s going to change much at all in America in my lifetime which is probably about ~30 years unless I get hit by a drunk driver or something.
This cynicism is because it’s been a major issue for every presidential administration and every Congress and although the medical care is quite remarkable compared to 1993, the biggest government solution - Obamacare - has only made the issue more bureaucratic than before and has added to Medicaid, Medicare, Prescription Drug Legislation, The various private health insurance, CHIPS, states & the federal government subsidies, VA, Native American Health Care, Big Corporations Health Insurance Plans, Small Business Insurance Plans that don’t have much leverage, the uninsured, emergency room mandates, the uninsured and that doesn’t even address the truth about how unhealthy probably half the country is with horrible nutrition, no exercise, vice addictions and now the country is being pressured to pay for the mental health care for anyone who has had a bad month can claim that they have been suffering from a mental illness they recently learned about on their TV or iPhone.
This system is 20% of the US GDP and to really fix it would require a decades long process and commitment that will never happen in the America of today…
I hope I’m wrong
