Stop blaming the father. Anyone who views running content on reels/tiktok has seen the Maurice Greene video.
I get how it is disqualifiable, but if Maurice Greene didn't get DQ'd why should she?
School sponsored events for minors and professional events for adults often have different rules. A professional sporting event is for entertainment purposes and so things are allowed that high school events won't allow.

In pro sports, you can be banned for heckling and going on the field is a big no-no.
Maybe it’s because of the expensiveness of tickets, but I haven’t sat near a heckler or witnessed a fistfight in several years.

I believe it's also illegal to discharge a fire extinguisher for no reason.
Maybe a fire extinguisher which is required to be inspected as part of a building's fire marshall inspection. There's no way a personal fire extinguisher is illegal to use for whatever purpose you see fit.
I’m no expert or anything but what I have looked up says it’s illegal. These aren’t toys.
Maurice Greene did it as a Pro. HS or College Athletes would be dqed. A previous poster explained the dq very well including the reason for her not being allowed to compete in the rest of her events in the meet.
1. Maurice Greene did this in 2004, so not "30 years before she was born."
1.1. If she was born in ~2007, probably when her Dad was a young man.
2. I think the fire extinguisher thing is clearly "doing a lot" as the kids say (I think; I'm 45), certainly very over-the-top. (But kids are sometimes over the top. They're kids.)
2.1. On the other hand, it's kind of cute to see it from a younger person, especially for long-time track fans who will remember Greene doing it as a hulking pro.
3. If disciplinary action seemed necessary to the meet officials, I think it would be more reasonable to withdraw her from remaining events, NOT to erase a performance THAT HAD ALREADY ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
Sounds like her dad gave her the fire extinguisher. Probably not the wisest move.
Probably. Can't take accountability, claims "racism." In 2025. In california. Nah, he's just an idiot and the daughter probably loved the celebration when it was happening. Frick around and find out.
Everything that happens that does not benefit certain people, or is not liked by certain people is automatically racist.

Not even an original shtick, the fire extinguisher.
Kids get DQ'd for way way less. Showboating as they cross the finish. Has happened many many times in the past year even.

They're dangerous. People aren't supposed to be inhaling those fumes.

She is only a sophomore, probably born in '09, which is crazy.
I feel bad for the girl. It was obviously dad's idea as we can tell from his ridiculous response. That's a classic defense move on his part. She didn't get to run her second event because her dad is a dope. Sad.
Question of relationship between coach and parent? How does a coach not see that his athlete's father brought a fire extinguisher to the meet? In all the years I took athletes to the CA state meet, the parents and I connected before and during the meet. Something just doesn't feel right about how all this happened.

Her father is her coach.
Ok, I get it. Theatrical displays of hot feets needing a fire extinguisher cool down is disrespectful, worthy of a DQ, but a boy dressing up as the Wendy's girl is NOT disrespectful? WTF is going on in this country?
